School Counselor for Nibble School Area

The Nibble school area consists of two schools: Skogsbrynskolan and Nibbleskolan. The area is led by a common principal and has a shared student health team. The Nibble school area is multicultural, with approximately 400 students in grades F-6.

We are a training school for Mälardalen University, which provides us with inspiration and professional development. The position is a temporary contract from 2026-01-08 to 2026-08-31.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a school counselor, you will be part of the student health team and work closely with the school nurse, social educator, special education teacher, assistant principal, and principal. The primary focus of the counselor is on psychosocial student health work, which includes supporting individual students and student groups in their well-being and considering the student's entire context. The work is based on a health-promoting and preventive perspective, and the counselor's main tools are conversations of a supportive or motivational nature.

Together with students and in close collaboration with guardians and other school staff, you will seek solutions to difficulties and remove barriers to learning and development. If necessary, you will also collaborate with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, health centers, or other agencies. The role also includes the school's values and safety work, as well as developing various routines and promoting and preventive measures.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a qualified social worker and we prefer that you have previous experience working in primary schools. We are looking for someone skilled at inspiring, leading conversations, building trust, and who has good knowledge of how to develop the social environment to better meet students' differences and challenge normative ideas. You have the ability to lead other adults in the safety team's work, which requires you to be structured and have good foresight.

You enjoy collaborating with colleagues on issues related to children's development and learning, and you are skilled at building trusting and respectful relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians.

Furthermore, we see that you are a warm, responsible, and clear person with an inclusive approach and possess good communication skills. Our work in the student health team is based on trust, and we have close collaboration. You work selflessly with everyone at the school and see it as a strength to make a difference together.
