Job Advertisement: Staff for the School Social Team

Sundsvall Municipality has approximately 8,000 employees and is significant for our society. We are Sundsvall's largest employer with several workplaces across various operations and around 300 different professions.

Within the Department of Children and Education, our approximately 3,000 employees meet around 16,000 children and students in more than 130 units every day. Here, there is an opportunity to provide them with the conditions for continued learning and development. The politicians' and the administration's goals and direction are that all children and students in Sundsvall Municipality's preschools and schools should have equal opportunities to develop, achieve their goals, and become active citizens with many opportunities in life.

The municipality has a significant mission to create benefits for all our residents. Regardless of the operation, we work towards the same goal: to be a good place to live, thrive, and work.

Sundsvall Municipality is in an exciting phase. Our municipality is part of the green transition in Northern Sweden, where a large establishment is underway that will lead to many new jobs and thus many new residents. We are fully preparing by, among other things, preparing land, creating new educational places, marketing the municipality, and welcoming new residents from all over the world.

The Social Services are responsible under the Social Services Act for providing children, youth, and their families with the support they need and ensuring they grow up under safe conditions. A functioning school attendance is an important protective factor against exclusion and ill health. Therefore, we are establishing four school social teams in the municipality based on cross-professional collaboration between schools and social services. The goal is to strengthen students' opportunities to achieve school goals, increase attendance, create safety, and break unfavorable development.

We are now looking for two staff members for one of these school social teams who will work with high school students based on the Introduction Programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the school social team, you will work preventively with early interventions to increase school attendance and strengthen students' opportunities to achieve educational goals. You will collaborate with schools, social services, and other stakeholders, focusing on the student, school, family, and leisure.

In the team, you will:

  • Work closely with students, school staff, social services, guardians, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate support for students from schools, social services, and other stakeholders.
  • Offer psychosocial support, motivational conversations, social training, and help create structure.
  • Support and guide guardians.
  • Work with preventive measures and training for parent groups or staff.

Each school social team consists of two staff members, one from the Department of Children and Education and one from the Department of Individual and Labor Market. The teams collaborate to support the student, family, and school and primarily work out in the schools. A steering group leads the process, and a working group plans and follows up the work.

  • Have documented experience working with children and youth and a genuine interest in young people and their networks.
  • Have a B driver's license.

It is advantageous to have previous experience in family treatment within social services or work in primary school as a school counselor or social pedagogue.

To succeed in the assignment, it is also important that you:

  • Are good at seeing opportunities and have strong self-leadership skills.
  • Are flexible in your working method, focusing on the best interests of the student.
  • Are comfortable taking your own initiatives and independently structuring and driving your work.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability beyond educational requirements.

Please indicate in your application if you are primarily interested in working in the family-supportive part of the school social team (social services) or school support (Department of Children and Education).
