The Legal Department is responsible for the legal governance of the agency's operations and for driving guiding decisions related to the agency's activities. The Legal Department also coordinates the agency's regulatory development work and provides legal support to certain departments. The department also serves as a staff function to the board and the director general on legal matters.

The Legal Department needs more lawyers who can think strategically and creatively and who want to help develop and refine the regulations behind the 21 million decisions made by the agency each year, making them clearer and more predictable. Above all, it is about using your knowledge and experience to make a difference for individuals and society as a whole. It is a significant responsibility. Do you want to share it with us?

We are now looking for more lawyers in the area of Regulatory Development. Currently, there are 12 lawyers working in this area across several locations.

Responsibilities and Tasks

The Regulatory Development area is responsible for the agency's regulatory development work and consultations on legal issues. As a legal expert, this means you will work with handling consultations and the agency's proposals for legislative changes. The tasks cover many different areas of law. You will handle issues that are relevant within the Government Offices and help develop applicable law. Major issues are presented to the agency's top management for decision. You will represent the Swedish Social Insurance Agency in external forums, such as meetings with the Government Offices and other authorities, as well as within the framework of the network for resilience among disbursing and judicial authorities, against abuse and crime in welfare systems (MUR). Part of the work involves helping to develop the operations and working methods.

The position of legal expert is suitable for you who want and can work independently, with significant responsibility and authority. An interest in various societal issues is also beneficial. You contribute to good collaboration both within the agency and with other actors such as other authorities. We are looking for someone who

  • has a law degree
  • is a qualified notary or has experience from other qualified legal work that can be assessed as equivalent
  • appreciates and has a very good ability to collaborate with others to achieve common goals
  • is stable and has the ability to build trust with various partners
  • acts on their own initiative and takes responsibility for high-quality results
  • has a systematic and meticulous working method
  • can understand and analyze complex issues
  • has a very good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing.

It is advantageous if you have

  • experience from higher courts, e.g., as an assessor, judicial secretary, or rapporteur
  • experience working in the Government Offices
  • other relevant experience from government agencies
  • knowledge and interest in digitalization and data protection, total defense law, social insurance law, or work against incorrect payments
  • experience and interest in handling consultations or working with regulatory development
  • experience and good ability to lead projects.

A number of positions, permanent, full-time, with start date by agreement. A probationary period may be applicable.
