The Department of Medicine and Geriatrics is the largest department at Karlskoga Hospital. The department includes outpatient clinics, dialysis and kidney clinics, physiological clinics, rehabilitation units, and medical care administrators. The inpatient wards focus on the acute management of patients with stroke, heart diseases, and other acute internal medical conditions.

Nurse for the Dialysis Clinic, Karlskoga Hospital

Job Responsibilities

At the Dialysis Clinic, nurses and nursing assistants work in teams with other professionals such as doctors, dietitians, physiotherapists, and social workers. We treat patients with chronic kidney failure who require hemodialysis.

The Dialysis Clinic is an outpatient clinic where we perform hemodialysis for patients with reduced or ceased kidney function. We have a total of 14 dialysis stations. Patients usually come here three times a week, with each treatment lasting about four hours. We work within a highly specialized outpatient service where we use technical equipment in our daily work.

The service operates during the day, Monday to Saturday, with evening shifts until 8:00 PM three days a week. We have a wish schedule. You will receive an individually tailored introduction period of about 10 weeks with two designated mentors to learn how to operate dialysis machines and treatment principles. We work in pairs in our patient groups.
