Our values are based on credibility, trust, and security. By being courageous, thinking freely, and innovating, we together create a better future through both large and small actions. Welcome to apply for a job with us!

We are now looking for a PhD candidate in electronic circuits and systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering (ISY).

Your Responsibilities

The goal of this position is to develop, design, and conduct research on integrated circuits that tackle the challenges of next-generation communication systems. The project aims to investigate the feasibility and benefits of new design concepts for radio receivers and transmitters (radio transceivers), with a special focus on data converters. The expected outcome is a groundbreaking approach to co-optimized radio transceiver design with measured and verified world-class performance, published in leading international journals and conferences in the field.

As the project is part of a collaboration with Lund University and Universidad de Sevilla, the work will also involve international cooperation.

As a PhD candidate, you will focus on your doctoral studies and the research project you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or participating in other departmental assignments, up to 20 percent of full-time.

Your Qualifications

You have completed a master's degree in electronics or have finished courses totaling at least 240 ECTS credits, of which at least 60 ECTS credits at the master's level in the above subject. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent knowledge in other ways.

Applicants are expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrate a strong background and a solid interest in the design of digital and analog integrated circuits for radio frequencies in advanced CMOS technologies
  • Have good knowledge and practical experience in simulation and layout using professional CAD tools for circuit design.
  • Excellent communication skills and a good ability to express yourself in English, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.
  • Self-motivated with a genuine interest in research and science.
  • Previous experience with advanced signal processing concepts and digital filters is a plus.

Your Workplace

You will work at the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering (ELDA), which conducts teaching and research in a wide area, from processor architectures and logic design to analog integrated circuits. The group for electronic circuits and systems has over 40 years of experience in advanced circuit design and collaborates closely with major semiconductor companies and academic research organizations worldwide.
