Educational Developer at Mid Sweden University

The Department of Research and Educational Support (FUS) at Mid Sweden University offers expertise in internationalization, pedagogical development, lifelong learning, research funding, and innovation. Here, there are about forty competent employees with diverse experiences.

We are now looking for an educational developer to work on the implementation of a new learning platform at Mid Sweden University.

Do you want to help shape the future of education together with our teachers? Are you motivated to support teachers in developing their teaching? We are now seeking a platform educator who is passionate about supporting and inspiring teachers in their use of digital tools for teaching. In this role, you will be a key person in integrating our new learning platform into the university's educational activities.

The position is placed within the Pedagogical Development group, which offers qualified support to researchers and teachers at Mid Sweden University regarding higher education pedagogy, technology-supported learning, and pedagogical learning environments.

Responsibilities

Mid Sweden University is transitioning from Moodle to Canvas as its learning platform during the period 2024-2026. The project is planned to provide teachers with clear and close support during the transition and the development that occurs after the switch. This position is one of two types that initially strengthen the support available for technology-supported learning at the institution. The project's vision includes creating a more cohesive way of designing course rooms at the university to facilitate both teachers and students.

Your responsibilities include:

• Training and guiding teachers on how to use the Canvas learning platform to create an engaging and effective teaching environment.
• Providing ongoing support to users and helping them resolve technical and pedagogical questions related to the learning platform.
• Contributing to the development of guidelines, materials, and courses to support users of the learning platform.
• Adapting and developing training formats and content based on the needs expressed by teachers, subject groups, and institutions.
• Being an active link in relation to one of our faculties and contributing to driving change and improving teaching through digital solutions.
• Supporting teachers in using other digital tools that complement the learning platform, such as Zoom, Kaltura, Padlet, Mentimeter, and administrative support systems.

Your Background

For this position, we are looking for someone who has:

• Current experience working with digital learning environments or educational technology.
• Documented experience leading training initiatives for university teachers or equivalent as assessed by the employer.
• Documented success in driving change management.
• Experience working in a process- or project-oriented manner with documented positive outcomes.
• A relevant academic degree.
• Good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

It is particularly meritorious if you:

• Have experience teaching in higher education.
• Have worked with one or more learning platforms, especially Canvas.
• Have experience from higher education or previously worked in a role where you supported teachers or other professionals in using digital tools.

Your Qualities

• You have good collaboration skills and a pedagogical understanding of learning and teaching, seeing your own work as part of a larger effort. This means you are responsive to the needs of teachers and operations.
• You should also be able to work independently towards the project's set goals based on the needs of individual teachers, groups of teachers, and institutions.
• It is essential that you are responsible, proactive, and have a very good ability to meet deadlines.
• To succeed in this role, you need to be creative and solution-oriented with the ability to translate ideas into practical solutions.

The position is a fixed-term full-time employment from 2025-03-01 to 2026-02-15 or as agreed.
