Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant at the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels.

We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, with over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Approximately 5,000 undergraduate students take one or more courses at the department each year. We are now looking for students who want to work as teaching assistants in period 4.

Job Responsibilities

Participation in teaching in one or more of the listed courses below. Participation in teaching includes, for example, attending laboratories and lectures, grading assignments, answering students' questions, and supervising student projects. Courses marked SVE are taught in Swedish, and those marked ENG are taught in English. Applications are received in Uppsala University's recruitment system. • 1RT745 Reinforcement Learning (ENG)
• 1RT155 Modeling of Dynamic Systems (SVE)

If you have not been a teaching assistant before, the job responsibilities also include a mandatory introduction day.

Qualifications

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. Only those who are admitted to undergraduate or advanced level education may be employed as teaching assistants (HF Chapter 5 §10). The applicant must demonstrate good academic results, particularly in the area of the course they will assist with, as well as very good knowledge of Swedish (only for courses taught in Swedish) and English in both spoken and written form.

Desirable/meritorious

Previous experience in teaching relevant courses at the university level is particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT systems (Studium) is desirable, as well as good knowledge of Uppsala University's organization.

Application Procedure

The application should include a letter in which the applicant briefly describes their experience in teaching, language skills, and knowledge (e.g., study certificates). The application should also include which courses the applicant is interested in and an estimate of the number of hours they wish to work (per course and period, with the total hours summing to 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120). Please attach your registration certificate as well.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary according to HF Chapter 5 § 12 until 2025-06-20 or by agreement. The extent is 5-50% depending on which period(s) and how many hours you work. Start date is 2025-03-10 or by agreement. Place of employment: Uppsala
