About Alingsås Parish

Alingsås Parish consists of the three congregations – Alingsås, Hemsjö, and Ödenäs - which differ from each other but work towards the same vision – "Together in the Church of Sweden Alingsås, we want to clearly speak of Jesus in word and action!"

The parish has seven churches, seven cemeteries, and approximately 20,300 members.

We are one of the largest parishes in the Diocese of Skara and one of the municipality's largest employers. The parish has a total of 94 employees.

Alingsås is one of the most expansive municipalities in Western Sweden, currently with about 42,000 inhabitants, of which about 27,000 live in the central area. The city offers good commuting opportunities from Gothenburg, Skövde, etc.

ORGANIST

We are now seeking an organist for Alingsås Parish for a permanent position with a workload of 75%.

There will likely be opportunities for extension through temporary positions in other roles over the coming years.

Music is important and plays a significant role in the parish's worship life; therefore, the activities include a variety of programs where music takes a leading role.

In this position, you will be one of four organists belonging to our central district, where the focus of duties and activities takes place in Christinae Church, but the district also includes Landskyrkan. As with all our musician positions, it is also included to serve in other churches or locations within the parish.

The central district's team includes not only organists but also priests, deacons, church singers, church caretakers, cleaners, and housekeepers – a total of about 15 employees.

Christinae Church has a well-established music program with a long tradition, featuring a well-established concert series with lunch concerts, music devotions, and concerts every weekend. There are a total of eight choirs, including a children's and youth choir and four adult choirs with different focuses.

The main focus of the position is on Sunday services, church ceremonies, music devotions, and concerts. Currently, choir activities are not included in the position, but we are open to discussions regarding this.

The church's instrumentarium consists of a newly renovated gallery organ (playable from the choir), a chancel organ, a top-class Steinway grand piano, and a two-manual Arvidsson harpsichord.

Is a driven and experienced organist who can manage and develop organ music in worship services and concerts with knowledge and joy. In a creative way, and together with colleagues, wants to develop and participate in the church's musical activities.
