About Us

We welcome a new colleague to our specialized care department for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.

Ward 131 can offer you a workplace where you can thrive and develop in your profession. Here, patients are assessed, cared for, and prepared both acutely and planned for examinations, surgeries, and treatments such as dialysis. We handle acute problems for patients with peritoneal dialysis (PD) when the PD clinic is closed, which also means we are a resource for other departments at Sahlgrenska when they care for patients receiving PD treatment.

What Do We Offer You?

The work as an assistant nurse with us is varied and stimulating. What characterizes our department is a pleasant atmosphere and a good collaborative climate, and you will learn to interpret the kidney's impact on the body's functions, as well as how the kidney's function is affected by other organs, disease conditions, or external factors. You will receive a structured introduction, together with a mentor, tailored to your previous experiences, and during your first six months on the ward, you will be trained in peritoneal dialysis.

With us, you have great opportunities to develop as an assistant nurse and be involved in improvement efforts and responsibilities relevant to the department, along with planned time for education and training. We have individual schedule planning, allowing you to influence your work schedule. The position is full-time, but the degree of employment can be discussed.

Job Responsibilities

As an assistant nurse, you will assess the patient’s care needs based on science and proven experience. You will work in a team with nurses and other professional categories, responsible for basic care and monitoring of the patient in dialogue with the nurse. In consultation with the nurse, you will perform sample collections, dressings, and assist with peritoneal dialysis according to the routines and checklists available for the ward. You will support and encourage the patient’s ability for self-care and mobilization. Your responsibilities also include checking and preparing the ward’s care-related rooms, treatment rooms, and equipment. After training in PD, you will assist patients with PD both in the ward and in other departments within Sahlgrenska.

About You

We are looking for you who are a trained assistant nurse with a focus on acute care. Experience in acute care and/or work with peritoneal dialysis is advantageous.

Experience with peritoneal dialysis is advantageous but not a requirement. You work to provide patients with the best possible care and treatment, take responsibility for your tasks, and communicate and collaborate well with others. You are self-assured, can see solutions, and work methodically when the work situation changes.
