JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to work in a unique organization where you can make a real difference for vulnerable people in acute social situations? Then the social emergency service might be right for you! We are investing in quality development and are looking for two experienced and driven 1st social workers to strengthen our team.

The social emergency service is part of the Social Administration Center and works for the entire Gothenburg City as well as 12 surrounding municipalities. The social emergency service handles the full range of social services' various target groups and exercises authority according to SoL, LVU, and LVM. Since all cases are urgent, the work is characterized by variation and unpredictability - no day is the same as the other. We collaborate closely with the police and healthcare to provide the best possible support to those who need it most. The service operates around the clock, year-round, which means that a large part of the working hours is scheduled during inconvenient times.

Our staff group consists of experienced and competent employees with many years of experience in social services, but many are relatively new to the social emergency service. The group is new as a whole, which places extra high demands on clear and secure leadership. The service is led by two unit managers and includes five 1st social workers who work on call, one who works during the day. We also have our own payroll administrator and reception.

As a 1st social worker, you have a key role in the organization. Your main task is to lead and distribute the work for the social workers during your shifts, ensure legal security and quality, prioritize incoming cases, and support employees in their assessments. You make decisions according to delegation and contribute to a common approach and equitable assessments. Since the staff constellations vary for each shift, you do not lead a fixed group but the team that is on duty. The role requires a secure and present leadership that adapts to the needs of employees.

In addition, you actively contribute to the development of the organization by working closely with the unit managers on the organization's goals and various assignments. You are responsible for method development, both individually and in groups, and represent the social emergency service in networks and collaboration forums. You contribute your experience and expertise in close collaboration with your 1st colleagues. You also have joint external process supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

Being a 1st social worker in the social emergency service is a very rewarding and satisfying assignment, but it is also challenging, difficult, lonely, and at times stressful. To manage and endure the assignment, we therefore set high demands on you in your professional role, as it is important to have the right person for the job.

For the position, you must be a trained social worker and have solid experience in authority exercise within social services. The work requires a high degree of independence as you are the sole supervisor on duty, which means you need to have experience as a 1st social worker in authority exercise for approximately 5 years or more.

You need to have very good knowledge of current legislation regarding SOL and LVU or LVM. It is advantageous if you have experience in conducting situational leadership.

The work is decision-intensive, so you need to have the ability to work effectively under stress, make necessary priorities, and remain calm in difficult situations. You need to be comfortable making independent decisions in accordance with laws, routines, and delegation. You need to be flexible and solution-focused. As a person, you need to be secure and stable and have a positive attitude. For this assignment, we will prioritize personal suitability.
