Personal assistants needed for a teenage boy outside Alingsås – Daytime, afternoons, and some weekends per month.

Just outside Alingsås lives a wonderful teenage boy who needs safe, attentive, and engaged personal assistants. He has extensive support needs and requires personal assistance around the clock – but this ad concerns a position of about 80-90% mostly during the day, with some afternoons and a weekend per month. There is a need for a permanent position and a temporary position for 6 weeks. The temporary position may lead to a permanent employment. 

The boy leads an active life with school, activities, and daily routines. He attends Alströmergymnasiet and needs support both in education and everyday life.

As an assistant, you will accompany him to school, provide support in lessons, manage medical needs, and collaborate with teachers and student assistants. In the afternoons, the day continues either at home or at a short-term residence – with everything from dinner and leisure activities to cozy evenings, music, swimming, crafts, or outings. Initiative and creativity are therefore valuable traits in this role. You will help create meaningful leisure time – and the family encourages you to contribute your own ideas. Working hours vary with a start between 07-09 and ending between 15 and 20 in the afternoon. 

The family has a private pool, and the boy loves to swim, something the family hopes assistants will do with him during the season.

Throughout the day, you will always work in a team – the boy has double assistance for much of the time, even at night.

We are looking for someone with experience as a personal assistant and preferably relevant education (e.g., nursing assistant). You do not need to know everything from the start, but it is important that you are confident, willing to learn, and have a good ability to collaborate. Previous experience with medical responsibility, communication support (e.g., sign language), epilepsy, or educational work is an advantage.

The boy communicates with sounds, looks, and body language, so a high degree of attentiveness and empathy is required to understand his needs. You should be a stable person who can be both flexible and organized, see details while keeping the bigger picture in mind. You should also be someone who can blend into the family’s daily life – while also giving the boy his own voice and space.

You must be a non-smoker due to the boy's respiratory issues.

Please note that some shifts may start and end at different locations.

The workplace is within walking distance from Västra Bodarnes station and is easily accessible by public transport. Positions are filled continuously, so please apply as soon as possible.
