Kriminalvården is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding on, and we are now seeking more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

Within the Stockholm region, there are several prisons and detention centers. We are currently looking for correctional officers for summer temporary positions. In this advertisement, we offer placement at one of the detention centers Huddinge, Kronoberg, and Sollentuna or at one of the prisons Hall, Beateberg, Asptuna, Färingsö & Svartsjö, and Rosersberg. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison are varied: care, surveillance, searches, and security work are mixed with release planning and conversation/motivation work. The work at the detention center is often routine-based and focused on care and security tasks. Clients may be detained for long periods without meeting anyone other than their lawyer and the staff at the detention center, which places special demands on you as a correctional officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Your personal qualities are important to us. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since you will be running the operations together with your colleagues, you need to have good teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly. Good judgment and integrity are required in your professional practice. You should have a physical condition that enables you to act physically when the situation demands it.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A complete upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience.
• Work experience. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, or conflict management.
• Work experience from correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, healthcare, or service work in retail, hotels, or restaurants.

We have high demands for our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. To work with us, you need to undergo a security clearance in accordance with the Security Protection Act. A security clearance interview will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. During the security clearance, you will be investigated as a person, your background, and your relationships from a security perspective. Some positions are classified in a security class, and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
