Corrections Officer Wanted for National Transport Unit

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

We are now seeking you to work as a Corrections Officer at our office in Stockholm, Solna.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Corrections Officer at the National Transport Unit, you will encounter people of varying ages, backgrounds, and experiences, which requires you to have good communication skills, be attentive, and possess a humane view of people. Furthermore, you need to be able to meet the individuals we transport in a low-arousal manner.

A significant part of the role involves monitoring duties during court hearings as well as during hospital visits, for example. In addition to transporting individuals deprived of liberty by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you will also conduct transports on behalf of other authorities such as the police, the Migration Agency, and social services.

Besides your verbal skills, you need to have a good physical foundation that allows you to sit for extended periods and act physically if the situation requires it.

Please note that the working hours at the National Transport Unit vary between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM, with a time span that allows for adjustments of one hour +/- at the beginning of the shift and two hours +/- at the end of the shift. This means that the shift can be extended.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a corrections officer, you need to be flexible, secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment.
• A completed upper secondary education or other training in combination with work experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.
• A valid driver's license (B) and driving experience.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Work experience in corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and social care.
• Training as a nurse, nursing assistant, military service, or other training from the armed forces.
• Experience working with people.
