Acute and trauma

Children and foot

Hand

Hip and knee prosthetics

Spine

Upper extremity

Region Örebro County is one of the largest employers in the county and an important growth engine in the region. With us, there are exciting and important jobs in areas such as healthcare, dental care, public transport, culture, and business development. Together, we create a better life.

Specialist/Consultant, Orthopedics and Hand Surgery DepartmentJob Responsibilities

The Acute and Trauma section handles acute orthopedic injuries and conditions at all locations, but our larger traumas are concentrated in Örebro. Here is the region's trauma center, which means multidisciplinary emergency care and advanced fracture surgery. This section also includes the soft knee unit in Karlskoga, where sports-related injuries are primarily managed.

The Children and Foot section conducts extensive operations, broad and highly specialized, and is located in Örebro.

The Hand section is primarily focused on highly specialized hand surgery, acute operations, and reconstructive treatment of large and extensive hand injuries. The Hand section also has a NHV assignment for dysmelia in collaboration with orthopedics. The operations are mainly located in Örebro.

The Hip and Knee Prosthetics section in Lindesberg offers both primary prosthetic surgery and revision surgery, as well as specialized care for prosthesis-related fractures and prosthetic infections. Over the past two years, we have conducted studies in robot-assisted knee prosthetic surgery and are about to start studies in hip prosthetic surgery with robotic assistance.

The Spine section conducts all spinal surgery except for the very youngest children and is well-equipped technically. The latest addition is the acquisition of a robotic arm nearly a year ago.

The Upper Extremity section is located in Karlskoga and is a well-established highly specialized unit in both shoulder and elbow surgery.

All four hospital units, Örebro Orthopedics and Hand Surgery, Karlskoga Orthopedics, and Lindesberg Orthopedics, are well-established university units.

The FOU-U section is responsible for the department's AT, BT, and ST training programs. In recent years, course activities have started well for both ST and specialist doctors, and scientific production has also gained momentum. The conditions for clinical research are good, and ALF funds can be applied for. After a mid-term dissertation, the conditions for ALF time of 9 months/year at 30% until the dissertation are very good. For those with a doctoral education or who are associate professors, there is ample opportunity for further research qualifications in the form of, for example, supervision. For associate professors, two 6-year appointments as university consultants with 30% ALF time for 9 months a year are advertised twice a year.

Nursing and secretarial services are organized in a cohesive section for the entire department with a nursing manager and unit managers for wards, outpatient clinics, and secretariats.
