Support Assistant for Disability Care in Umeå Municipality

The Disability Care in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Magistervägen 1 is a service residence according to LSS, focusing on intellectual disabilities.

The current operation consists of 10 apartments distributed across four houses in close proximity to each other. As staff, you will work from a communal living room, where joint activities can be organized, and where there is also an office/on-call room. Individual support for the user is mainly provided in their own apartment.

Your Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you will assist the user in their daily life with approved services such as meals, shopping, cleaning, laundry, personal care, transfers, and planning activities. You will offer individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the person's own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence. You work to make the individual involved in their daily life and have a meaningful leisure time and/or occupation.

Your work will also include documentation, record-keeping, working with implementation plans, and medication management. As a support assistant, you will have contact with administrators, healthcare services, and authorities.

Smoking, heavy lifting, pets, and threats and violence may occur.

Magistervägen is part of a pilot project on geographical co-planning together with several other operations. This means that you will primarily be placed at Magistervägen, but part of your working hours will be allocated to other operations involved in the project. The schedule is set in an 8-week cycle, and working hours include days, evenings, weekends, and on-call nights.

About You

As a person, you are calm and secure, engaged, and have good self-awareness. You work in a structured and professional manner in collaboration with your team, supervisor, and other networks.

To communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, write and participate in care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written forms. You also need to have good computer skills as it is an important part of the job. Personal suitability will be given great importance.

Requirements:

• We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant, social worker, or has another education that the employer deems equivalent.

Meritorious:

• Experience in the field of intellectual disabilities.
• Experience in low-arousal responses in situations involving threats and violence.
• Driving license B.
