Summer Substitute in Care and Support

The Care and Support Administration consists of four departments: Assistance and Health, Functional Support, Elderly Care, and Support and Development. The Care and Support Committee is politically responsible for the administration's work. Our operations involve providing care, support, and service to elderly individuals and those in need of functional support. We also perform certain health and medical care services. The vision includes ensuring that our efforts are carried out safely, securely, with dignity, and with influence.

We are about 850 employees working throughout the municipality, and we are a mix of support assistants, nursing assistants, nurses, support educators, assistance administrators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, care supervisors, and more.

We are now looking for you who want to work as a summer substitute during the day/evening or night at our elderly homes, Short-Term Unit, or our Geriatric Psychiatric Department.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This summer, we are looking for you who want to take care of our elderly and add a golden touch to their everyday life. The work involves taking care of the users and implementing care and support measures according to their needs. The daily tasks vary from day to day, focusing on helping the elderly with personal care such as hygiene, meals, social activities, and administering medication on the delegation of a nurse.

Before your summer substitute position, you will, of course, receive an introduction, shorter training, and shadow regular staff to feel secure in your role and develop in your position. You will learn techniques for transferring a person using various aids, as well as thorough care, how to meet the elderly, and attend a mandatory medication delegation training so that you can administer medications to the elderly on the delegation of a nurse. You must pass the delegation training before the start of the substitute position to work with us this summer.

All summer substitutes work on a fixed schedule and are employed as monthly substitutes. You need to be able to work at least 6 full weeks to take a position with us. In all areas, shifts are scheduled on both weekdays and weekends.

Elderly Homes:

Kullegården's, Furulund's, and Jonsered's elderly homes are looking for you who enjoy working in a team. You will perform tasks on the delegation of the responsible nurse and have contact with relatives. We are looking for you who can work day and evening or night on a schedule.

Short-Term Unit:

The Short-Term Unit offers habilitation, daily rehabilitation, health and medical care measures, care, and social support. Here you will work with more advanced care, medication management, and rehabilitative measures under the delegation of a nurse, physiotherapist, and occupational therapist. We are looking for you who can work day and evening or night. For the night position at the Short-Term Unit, more extensive experience in previous work in a short-term unit and night work is required.

Geriatric Psychiatric Department:

This department is located at Forellen, Gamla kronvägen 82, just like the Short-Term Unit. Here, it is required that you can work in a low-stress manner and have previous experience in elderly care. We are looking for you who can work day and evening or night on a schedule.

Working Hours for All Units (may vary slightly from one unit to another):

• Day shift - 06:40 with end times varying between 13:00-15:30
• Evening shift - 13:00/13:30/14:00/15:00 with end times varying between 20:00-22:30
• Night - 21:45-06:45

Working hours also apply on weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be able to work with us this summer, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old, referring to AFS 2023:2 8 chap. 4 §
• Be able to work full-time on a fixed schedule for at least 6 weeks
• Complete a language test at the level of the Council of Europe’s level B1 with a passing result. Documentation is an important part of the work, and therefore you need to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• Be able to attend short training sessions during the spring and have the opportunity to shadow regular staff for training before the summer substitute position begins

We are looking for you who see the value in working with elderly people and who want to add a golden touch to their summer! We consider it an advantage if you are educated or have ongoing secondary or higher education in care and support. It is also advantageous if you have experience working in healthcare. To ensure work with basic hygiene, you must be comfortable working in protective equipment if necessary.
