Parent Advisor at Järva Social Services
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us in Järva!
We are making significant investments in preventive social work in Järva - do you want to be part of our team?
Järva is an exciting area to work in, and right now we are taking steps in our preventive work in First Line Social Services and preparing for the new Social Services Act expected to come into force on July 1, 2025.
We want to offer residents coordinated early support by co-locating field assistants and parent advisors and strengthening our ability to follow the local situation. In the Järva district administration, our operations are characterized by collaboration, courage, empathy, and respectful treatment. We strive for open communication and respect for differences. We hope that you, as an applicant, want to develop together with us!
We are now looking for a parent advisor who wants to contribute to our ongoing development journey!
The Role of Parent Advisor
As a parent advisor, you provide advice and support in parenting issues to expectant parents and parents with children from 0 to 18 years. It is an open service where parents seek help themselves. We actively work to ensure that the common thread running through our operations is varied and complete based on parents' needs and wishes. As a parent advisor with us, you will have an important and stimulating job.
Currently, we meet most parents through our group activities at the universal prevention level, such as the parenting support programs ABC, FÖS, and Komet, and Rinkeby's extended home visit program in collaboration with BVC. In addition to these, we also work with various types of parent groups, thematic meetings, and meetings with parents together with their children, etc. Part of our development work involves working more at the selective level. An example of this is when a report of concern has been received by the reception unit and a decision has been made not to initiate an investigation, the parent advisory service steps in and offers the family support.
The job responsibilities involve collaboration with other authorities, the region's health and care services, schools, preschools, and civil society in structured working methods and in a trust-building effort. Here, creativity, knowledge, and flexibility are required.
Experience and Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in social work or another equivalent academic qualification that the employer deems equivalent.
- Experience in various forms of parenting support, preferably both universal and selective prevention.
- Several years of work experience in social work with parents and children.
We consider it an advantage if you have:
- Training and experience in leading parenting support programs such as FÖS, ABC, Komet.
- Experience in change work within families.
- Experience collaborating with schools/preschools, the region, and civil society.
- Good knowledge of the missions of social services and other authorities. This is important as the role of parent advisor includes referring parents to other types of support if they need more help.
The nature of the work means that we place great importance on personal suitability in general and the ability to collaborate in particular. If you have a flexible approach, a good ability to take significant personal responsibility, and enjoy having tasks that are under development while maintaining focus on the main mission, you will fit in here. Your ability to collaborate and inform about the operations will also be of great benefit.
Interviews may take place during the application period.
Welcome with your application!
Our Area - First Line Social Services
The Department for Individuals and Families Järva gathers about 500 employees and will consist of five different areas as of January 1, 2025, with First Line Social Services being the area to which the parent advisory service belongs. In 2024, First Line Social Services has focused on three areas: early coordinated interventions, violence prevention, and andts. The area gathers the preventive resources of social services, including field assistants, parent advisors, parental guides, school social workers, and counselors at Järva Youth Center.
We Offer You
We apply flexible working hours and as an employee, you will receive an annual wellness allowance that you can use for activities related to movement, exercise, and other wellness. The city also offers various discounts that you can choose to use. Read more about our benefits here.
Other
The unit needs to work flexibly and offer support to residents when needed, which means that some working hours will be outside of regular office hours (on weekday evenings and sometimes Saturdays).
We are recruiting without a personal letter in this recruitment process to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In assessing your application, we will only consider your CV and a number of questions you will need to answer when applying for the position. We ask that you respond concretely and succinctly to the questions, and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV. The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thus counteracting discrimination.
