GIL has been coordinating personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has a legacy from the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that individuals with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Typically, the person receiving assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with specific knowledge about the individual is appointed.

As a personal assistant, you support a person with a disability to live the life they want to live. To attract and retain competent and satisfied assistants, we invest in training and events. We believe that development and meeting others lead to motivated and secure assistants who enjoy and find it fun to work with us.

We are now looking for a personal assistant for an active young man with extensive disabilities who lives in his own apartment in Mölnlycke.

Working hours are usually scheduled in various shifts on evenings and every other weekend according to a rolling schedule. Sometimes you work alone, but double assistance occurs.

In his free time, the young man often swims in heated pools, where you as an assistant join him for training. He enjoys riding Balder at Liseberg, attending concerts, go-karting, and much more.

The young man does not have verbal speech, so you must speak and understand Swedish very well, as you will be the one interpreting for him to his surroundings.

Another requirement is that you have a B driver's license, as you will be driving his car when you go out for activities.

His assistance group consists of a bunch of positive and active guys and girls who enjoy being together, both with each other and with him.

The position starts with shadowing and as a part-time employment as soon as we find the right assistant. If you enjoy working together, the position will transition to a fixed-term employment as long as the assistance assignment lasts, with a working degree of 60%.
