Female Personal Assistant for 10-Year-Old Boy - Make a Difference Every Workday!

Our boy is a ray of sunshine who loves to smile! He uses a wheelchair (which you will maneuver), has epilepsy, and is fed via PEG. He cannot speak verbally and has an intellectual disability, so his mental age is much younger than his physical age. Your willingness to communicate on his terms is important, as a good interaction is a big part of the job.

Do you have experience with PEG, breathing issues, intellectual disabilities, and epilepsy? That’s a big plus! He has a progressive illness, and changes in care and needs occur from time to time, so you need to be well-informed about his routines, which are adjusted monthly.

He lives centrally in Stockholm with his dad and in Bromma with his mom, and spends some weeks in the summer at beautiful Ingarö where his dad has a summer house.

Now that some in the group have entered study programs, we are looking for more staff!

Your Superpowers on Site:

As a personal assistant, you will be our hero on-site and provide support in all kinds of situations. Your tasks will include:

• Diaper changes, showering, and support during meals (PEG feeding).
• Walks, play, stretching, and physiotherapy.
• Quick assistance during breathing difficulties and epileptic seizures.
• Participating in outings, family activities, and playground visits.
• Picking up the boy from school and accompanying him home via transport services.
• (during night shifts) Monitoring him at night mainly due to epilepsy, reflux, and breathing.

Working Hours:

We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a long-term substitute during daytime shifts on weekdays and every other weekend, averaging two shifts a week. Perfect for those combining it with another job or studies (e.g., nursing assistant, nurse, or preschool teacher). In the long run, you may be offered a permanent part-time position. There will be even more time available during May, June, and July for those interested as the regular assistant will be on vacation.

Shift Schedule:

• Weekday afternoons: approx. 14:55-21:00
• Weekends: approx. 9-21
• You should be willing to work awake shifts if needed: Awake night weekdays: approx. 21:00-10:00
• Weekend nights: approx. 21:00-09:00

• Child-loving, present, attentive, and caring.
• Not afraid of medical care. The boy has a progressive illness, and his health condition can change rapidly. You need to be very alert and stress-resistant.
• Present, reliable, and meticulous.
• Responsible, understanding, and punctual.
• Positive and have a good mood when you are at work.
• You arrive on time, follow routines, and take initiative when needed.
• You are good at understanding written instructions and meeting deadlines. You would rather ask once too much than once too little to provide the right care.

Introduction:

The introduction will take place immediately in collaboration with the boy's parents. You need to build a relationship with the boy and learn his care needs and routines by going through introductory shifts until you feel you can do the job.
