Pediatric care at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is divided into two areas of operations (VO) pediatric surgery/neonatal care and VO pediatric medicine. VO pediatric surgery/neonatal care has about 600 employees with operations in pediatric surgery, pediatric cardiology, pediatric surgery, pediatric and adolescent intensive care, and neonatal care. The pediatric surgical unit in Lund consists of inpatient ward 65, nephrology day care, urotherapy clinic, and pediatric surgical clinic. We are one of two units in the country that provides highly specialized care in infant surgery and have contact nurses specifically for these patients. In this unit, we care for patients with surgical and nephrological conditions aged 0 to 18 years.

- On my first day in the pediatric and adolescent surgical department, my mentor, who has been there for 30 years, said to me, "I have never seen this before," and that really fits our department well. We have a very exciting and varied workplace where we go from one type of workday to another. There are both varying ages and varying diagnoses, and we also have emergency operations, so in some situations, we have to switch gears quite quickly. In a way, we have a double specialty because we work in both nephrology and surgery. Since we also have national specialized care, we meet patients that you don't encounter in many other places, and we get to become skilled in those diagnoses. We get to work with the most exciting, developing, and enjoyable type of healthcare, says Anna, nurse and clinical coach who has worked in the department for 12 years.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome nurses or pediatric nurses who want to help develop care and work with the country's leading experts in pediatric surgery and pediatric nephrology.

In your role with us, you will be part of a team consisting of nursing assistants, doctors, pharmacists, service staff, medical secretaries, social workers, psychologists, dietitians, and physiotherapists. You will work in a stimulating environment with wonderful colleagues where the young patient and family are at the center. - The first year after graduating is super important for laying the foundation for your professional development and how secure you feel in your role as a nurse. The pediatric surgery department has given me the best start to my professional life. The work is incredibly varied, you get to work a lot practically, and above all, you have support all the way from your assigned mentors but also from other colleagues, says Em, a nurse who started with us in January 2021 right after her education.

As a new colleague with us, you will receive an individual introduction schedule of at least ten weeks where you, together with a mentor and supervisor, build a solid foundation and create conditions for you to feel secure in your professional role. As part of our competence development, we can occasionally offer our nurses specialist training with maintained base salary.

The positions involve mixed shifts day/evening/night or only night. You will work 2 out of 5 weekends and work with a 10-week schedule and wish schedule in Time Care. The full-time measure for only night shifts is 32 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed nurse or a specialist-trained nurse in pediatrics with the authority to work in Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale are a requirement. Previous experience in pediatric care is an advantage.
