We are now looking for operators for the Police's Regional Command Center (RLC) in Region South, who, together with engaged and friendly colleagues, will develop and gain experiences for life, while your work contributes to increasing safety and reducing crime in Sweden.

The Police Authority is Sweden's largest authority with approximately 40,000 employees, organized into seven police regions, several national departments, and a secretariat. The authority is undergoing significant growth that will continue in the coming years to meet future challenges.

Police Region South consists of Blekinge County, Kalmar County, Kronoberg County, and Skåne County. The operations in the region are organized into five police areas: Blekinge, northeastern Skåne, Kalmar Kronoberg, Malmö, northwestern Skåne, and southern Skåne, which together are divided into 20 local police areas. Furthermore, there are four regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit, the investigation unit, and border police, a regional secretariat, as well as national departments represented in the region to support police operations.

The RLC in Region South is responsible for police intervention operations throughout the region and is a section within the operational unit. The workplace consists of RLC operators, RLC commanders, and duty officers. Here, incoming phone calls and radio calls are assessed and prioritized. Each year, over 580,000 phone calls and about 589,000 radio calls are received. At RLC, larger events in the region are also led and planned based on a regional operational situation. Cooperation with other authorities and organizations is an important part of the section's mission. RLC South is continuously working on development and improvement to become an attractive workplace, strengthen operational capacity in police areas, and provide better service to citizens.

RLC South is now looking for operators to be based in Toftanäs, Malmö.

Job Responsibilities

The main task of the operator is to receive incoming calls, assess and register the information, and prioritize and dispatch police resources to various assignments according to a nationally established priority order. The operators work in teams consisting of civilians and police under the leadership of a commander.

As an operator, you maintain a high level of availability, provide citizens with a good response, and ensure that the police can quickly respond to cases where citizens need immediate or urgent assistance. The work also involves having an overview of external police resources, communicating with them via radio, and ensuring that patrols on assignment can perform and complete their work safely. Operators collaborate with other authorities and organizations/partners such as SOS Alarm, County Administrative Boards, Rescue Services, and ambulance services in the region.

The Regional Command Center is continuously working on development and improvement and is looking for motivated employees who intend to contribute to the development of the operations over time.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Swedish citizenship as the function is security classified
• High school diploma or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience
• At least 2 years of work experience
• Class B driver's license
• Very good ability to communicate in spoken and written Swedish
• Good understanding and ability to communicate orally in English
• Good computer skills and the ability to learn new computer systems
• Ability to work three shifts

Additionally, it is advantageous if you have:

• Experience in professionally meeting and communicating with individuals in vulnerable situations
• Work experience in the last five years in roles requiring high multitasking ability such as emergency centers, ambulances, healthcare, armed forces, communication centers, customer service/support, or similar work that the employer deems equivalent
• Experience in working while speaking and documenting simultaneously
• Additional language skills, besides Swedish and English, which the employer considers relevant for the role.

Good communication skills: you have a good ability to listen, be responsive, and clarity is central, as well as being well-articulated and having the ability to adapt your communication style to the situation.

• Good problem-solving skills: you have a good ability to absorb information, quickly understand complex situations under time pressure, and have a good ability to prioritize.
• Multitasking ability: you have a good ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. To absorb information via phone or other communication while managing computer programs and assessing the information.
• Ability to work independently.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. As part of the selection process, tests will also be used.
