Full-time Firefighters Wanted at Hässleholm Rescue Service

We are currently seeking full-time firefighters to work in our operational full-time force.

What we offer you!

You will serve as a firefighter in shift work based at the fire station in Hässleholm. We work in five shifts in a rolling five-week schedule where the shift covers the responding force for four weeks. Your duties include training, education, physical training, station work, and conducting rescue operations in case of fires, traffic accidents, or other types of incidents. Every fifth week, the shift works during the day with various operational and preventive tasks.

The position is a permanent employment starting on March 1, 2025, or as agreed.

The Hässleholm Rescue Service has several upcoming retirements, so from this recruitment selection, we may offer more positions than the one currently available.

Who are you?

We are looking for candidates who are educated according to one of the following:

  • Full-time firefighter (15 weeks) or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Degree in Accident Prevention
  • Rescue Operations, Part-time Firefighter, or GRIB training with smoke diving competence or equivalent training with several years of operational experience.

To perform work involving smoke or chemical diving, you must be in good health according to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations and general advice (AFS 2023:15) regarding medical controls in the workplace and pass the employment test on a treadmill (5.6 km/h). You must be able to swim and pass the Gold Badge according to the Swedish Lifesaving Society. As a firefighter, you also need to have a driving license category B and C. You should be able to express yourself easily in speech and writing in Swedish.

We seek individuals who are flexible, stress-resistant, and have good collaboration skills. Extensive experience in emergency services within the rescue service is an advantage. We welcome applicants with diverse professional backgrounds and life experiences.

Other

Interviews and tests will be conducted on February 5th and 11th. Tests will include a treadmill test, job-related course, practical tasks, and an interview. At the time of testing, you must present a certificate for the Gold Badge that is no more than one year old.

About us

The Hässleholm Rescue Service conducts operational rescue service activities, preventive activities, and the municipality's security department is also located within the rescue service. The rescue service has over 50 full-time employees, including managers, administrative staff, fire engineers, fire inspectors, safety coordinators, firefighters, and officers. Operationally, the rescue service has a full-time station, six RIB departments, and four rescue wards, and the municipality is part of the rescue management system in northeastern Skåne.

Since the beginning of 2021/2022, Hässleholm has signed an extended agreement on rescue cooperation with Perstorp Municipality. This means that the rescue services have a joint operational management and authority exercise. Both municipalities are independent rescue service organizations but with joint management and extended cooperation across the entire rescue service area. We believe that increased cooperation will lead to a less vulnerable and more sustainable rescue service in the long term. As we speak, we are in the process of shaping our future rescue service organization where we want to create a modern and efficient rescue service, an exciting task in many ways!
