The South Fire Department is the fire department for the municipalities of Burlöv, Eslöv, Kävlinge, Lund, and Malmö. Our mission is to prevent accidents and to quickly and efficiently carry out rescue operations of various kinds. Every day, our employees make efforts that affect the lives of others. The rescue center is responsible for alerting and overall management of rescue operations in 21 of Skåne's 33 municipalities. At the rescue center, duty officers, alarm and control officers, and alarm and control operators work together to support ongoing rescue operations and lead the resources in the area. We work with alerting rescue resources, preparedness planning, communication to the public and media in case of accidents, and collaboration with other actors in the damage control work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an alarm and control operator at the South Fire Department, you will receive incoming 112 calls and support the caller with advice, alert appropriate resources, and support ongoing operations. In the position, you have great opportunities to influence and together with your colleagues drive improvements. You communicate via RAKEL, telephony, and video telephony and seek the information needed to support the operation. The work involves many collaboration contacts, such as SOS Alarm, Region Skåne, the Swedish Transport Administration, and the Police Authority. You will work together with duty officers and control officers who manage the overall management of the federation's and affiliated fire departments' rescue operations.

In the role of alarm and control operator, you work in an environment where every second counts, and where your calmness and ability to maintain focus under pressure are crucial. With your good communication skills, you ensure that the right information reaches the right people at the right time.

The positions involve shift work, including weekends, and according to a special schedule. At times, the position may involve daytime work with tasks such as development work or training.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in this role, you need:

  • Swedish citizenship: This is a requirement to ensure the security aspect of our operations.
  • High school diploma: A basic educational level that prepares you for the various tasks.
  • Good communication: You master Swedish fluently in both speech and writing and can express yourself clearly and effectively.
  • Computer skills: You have an easy time navigating between different digital systems and are used to using a computer as a tool in your daily work.
  • Driver's license B: To facilitate transportation and movements when needed.

OTHER

The position is a permanent employment where a possible probationary period may be applied. You will be stationed at our Rescue Center at the Hyllie Fire Station in Malmö.

Welcome with your application by January 20th. Please answer the selection questions when submitting your application and attach your CV. Please note that we have removed the personal letter from the application process and replaced it with selection questions. Your answers will be an important part of our selection process. After the application deadline, we will make an initial selection and invite you to a recruitment meeting where you will meet some of our alarm and control operators. The recruitment meetings will take place in the evening on January 28th and 29th. At these meetings, you will receive more information about the position, have the opportunity to ask questions, and participate in a brief individual conversation with us.

After the recruitment meeting, we will make a selection and invite a number of candidates for an interview. Before the interview, you will undergo a digital personality test and a test in cognitive performance in problem-solving ability that you need to have completed before the interview takes place. At the interview, you will also undergo a practical test in technical capacity and stress resilience.

As an alarm and control operator at the South Fire Department, you perform security-classified tasks and therefore you will need to undergo a security clearance.
