The Cultural Administration works for a free, rich, and strong cultural life throughout Västra Götaland. We promote, support, and develop Västra Götaland's cultural life together with municipalities, civil society, and other actors. The Cultural Administration provides support to the region's cultural political bodies: the Cultural Committee and the Board for Cultural Development. About Vitlycke Museum

Vitlycke Museum is a knowledge and experience center for the World Heritage Site of Tanum's rock carvings and is located near Tanumshede.

The museum is an international destination and operates both outdoors at the World Heritage rock carving areas, in the Bronze Age farm, and inside the building. Vitlycke Museum will be open seasonally in 2024 from March 25 until the end of October. Our mission includes working with information, programs, tours, and knowledge development based on the World Heritage Convention and the rock carvings.

Our program activities aim to make it easy to get to know and learn more about the rock carvings and increase accessibility to the World Heritage Site, thus serving as a visitor portal for the World Heritage Site. The starting point is the Bronze Age and the rock carving images, but it spans an 8,000-year-long epoch of human presence in the World Heritage area. We strive for authenticity and to create a sense of community in our activities, a vibrant cultural environment, and actively work to develop our core knowledge area in the coming period.

Job Responsibilities

As a receptionist and museum host, you are an important part of the museum's hospitality work and will be our face to the public in the reception/shop. You will be part of a team responsible for welcoming and providing excellent service to all museum visitors. Your main tasks are to inform about the World Heritage Site and the museum's activities and manage sales and inventory in the shop. The role includes promoting the shop's activities on social media. Other tasks may be assigned as needed during certain periods. The position will involve evening and weekend work.

Qualifications

You have relevant education and documented experience in hospitality and service. You speak Swedish and English well and preferably German or French. You possess good sales skills and are familiar with cash and inventory systems.

Desirable

Education in cultural historical subjects, interest in and knowledge of antiquity and cultural history, experience in purchasing, and experience in conference activities.

We are looking for someone who is outgoing, meticulous, and organized, and enjoys serving visitors and collaborating with others. You thrive in a fast-paced environment with varied tasks. You are flexible and ready to change tasks as spontaneous needs arise.

Other

To be considered for the position, you must be able to participate in the introduction of seasonal staff, which takes place in week 13. The position includes weekend work.
