The daily activities center, managed by Uppsala municipality, is part of the care administration and consists of approximately 80 different workplaces. The activities are divided into three areas: Activity and Experience (AU), Nature and Service (NoS), and Business and Culture (Fok). In total, about 300 employees, 800 participants, and 11 operations managers work within the daily activities center, supported by several support functions.

As a support educator, you work on assignment based on the needs of the activities. This means that you have a mobile position and your assignment may be at one or several facilities at the same time.

Your Mission

As a support educator, you are part of the organization's staff in everyday work. You are expected to perform the same tasks and assignments as the rest of the basic staff. Working hours are scheduled in consultation with the operations manager based on the needs of the activities. In the role of a support educator, you work on assignment from and report to the operations manager. You work according to the Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS) and based on the individual's right to self-determination.

More about the role of a support educator:

Collaboration: The support educator strengthens collaborations by communicating professionally, sharing knowledge, and developing work methods to create meaningfulness and clarity for the participant.
Goal-oriented: Works for quality and goal achievement by evaluating and following up on work methods, methods, and ensuring cooperation according to governing documents and the individual's goals.
Method and Approach: Promotes participation and independence with pedagogical approaches, guides in AAC, low arousal approach, and documentation, as well as identifies competence development needs.
Supervision: Guides colleagues in approach, implementation plans, routines, and risk analyzes, participates in meetings and training, and acts as a role model and ambassador for the organization.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with a degree as a support educator of 200 vocational education points. To succeed in the role, you need experience in low arousal approach and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). We prefer if you have experience in sign language support and knowledge of various types of communication aids. Work experience in daily activities, care, and challenging behavior is also seen as advantageous. The job requires a B driver's license and proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

As a person, you take initiative and start activities to achieve results. You are a communicative person who is good at listening and adapting your way of communicating. Furthermore, you have good pedagogical skills and an understanding of people's different conditions for acquiring knowledge. You are also good at collaborating and relating to others in a sensitive and smooth manner. Moreover, you are a person who takes responsibility, drives your work forward, has a holistic view, and can see issues in a broader perspective.
