The main mission of the Reception Unit is to serve as a common entry point for the Social Services Board's exercise of authority regarding individual and family care. This is where individuals can turn to if they need help in a socially difficult situation, feel concerned about someone close to them, or seek advice on social issues. The Reception Unit is responsible for receiving, processing, and carefully assessing new reports and applications. If further investigation and support are needed, decisions on investigations are made and handed over to investigation units. When necessary, the unit also takes responsibility for emergency protective measures in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Today, we are about 20 employees working in the unit, including a unit manager, a senior social worker, social workers, and administrators. We are a team where everyone helps each other, develops together, and where no two days are the same.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a social worker at the unit, you will engage in important and meaningful social work. Your main tasks include receiving reports of concern and applications, pre-assessing incoming reports of concern, and taking protective actions in acute situations.

Another important task is to act as consultative ambassadors for the Social Services Board by providing information, guidance, and advice to collaborative partners and individuals.

The Reception Unit is also responsible for handling requests for opinions under the Law on Young Offenders (LuL), as well as requests for opinions in driver's license matters from the Swedish Transport Agency.

The work is primarily carried out based on the legislation of the Social Services Act (SoL), the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young Persons (LVU), and the Act on Care of Substance Abusers in Certain Cases (LVM). As a social worker at the Reception Unit, you will interact with all age groups, and your main task will be to assess whether an investigation should be initiated or not. The Reception Unit is usually the gateway for those who come into contact with social services. We strive to make this contact as positive as possible for the applicant, regardless of the reason for contacting us. The pace is often fast, and the tasks are varied.

As a new employee, you will receive an introduction, along with a mentor, tailored to your previous experiences. The introduction is part of the social services competence and authorization ladder, which also includes the Professional Journey. The Professional Journey has been developed through a collaboration between the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR), the National Board of Health and Welfare, and Regional Collaboration and Support Structures (RSS).

QUALIFICATIONS

The position requires a degree in social work, a B driver's license, and driving experience. You have good documentation skills and the ability to express yourself well verbally and in writing. It is advantageous if you have experience in exercising authority under SoL and/or LVU/LVM. Experience with reports of concern and pre-assessments is also beneficial for the position.

As a person, you have a strong commitment and interest in working with social work. You have the ability to interact with people in difficult life situations with an empathetic and professional approach. You are adept at communicating and motivating the assessments made in individual cases. You plan, structure, and drive your work independently and seek help when needed. You need to be able to shift focus at short notice and adjust your planning, as such situations may arise. You must work in a legally secure manner and adhere to the laws and guidelines that govern our mission. In the work team, you support your colleagues, share your experiences and knowledge, and contribute to a positive work environment.
