Do you want to play a key role in maintaining and developing the safety at our facility? We are now looking for a dedicated and technically skilled fire mechanic to join our team for Fire Protection & Risk Management at SSAB. Location Borlänge.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means embarking on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future and sustainability of the planet. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This needs to change. Therefore, we have developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production, and by around 2030, we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be crucial in achieving this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

We are now expanding with another fire mechanic. As a fire mechanic, you will work with our technical systems, such as fire alarms and sprinkler systems, and ensure that they function optimally.

You will have a varied role that combines technical tasks with advisory and collaboration both internally and externally. You will work closely with your colleagues within the team.

Your main responsibilities

  • Ensure that all fire protection systems are operational, checked, and maintained according to applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Participate in and support coordination meetings and revisions of fire protection systems.
  • Handle orders for spare parts, fire materials, and protective equipment.
  • Plan and follow up on error reports and ensure that actions are taken.
  • Assist in joint exercises, training, and supervision of facility caretakers and emergency response organizations.
  • Support projects related to technical fire protection systems.
  • Participate in the procurement of services and suppliers for fire protection.
  • Be responsible for managing equipment in the company's emergency stock.

About you

  • You have good technical skills and experience working with fire protection systems, such as fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and gas extinguishing systems.
  • Education in fire protection or equivalent work experience.
  • Good administrative skills and experience working in digital systems, such as the Office package, work order management, and time reporting.
  • Driver's license.
  • Understanding of the importance of environmental responsibility, such as handling firefighting foam with PFAS, is advantageous.
  • It is also advantageous to have knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to fire protection, such as SBA, ATEX, and flammable goods.
  • You are structured and solution-oriented with an eye for detail.
  • Independent and responsible with the ability to work proactively.
  • Communicative and collaborative with a strong focus on quality and safety.
