Description of the workplace

Tallmossen group home is part of the Functional Support department in the Welfare sector. You work closely with your colleagues, your unit manager, and other partners, collaborating with other activities within the department.

Tallmossen group home provides housing for five individuals covered by the Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS). The overall goal of the law is that the individual should be able to live like everyone else without being limited by their disability. Here, together with your colleagues, you will work to offer the residents of Tallmossen group home the best possible living conditions.

Your mission

As a support educator, you work together with support assistants in the unit to provide assistance and support to residents based on their individual needs and granted assistance. The work is carried out based on established implementation plans and goals, including support in all household chores such as planning, personal hygiene, clothing care, laundry, cleaning, diet, cooking, shopping, finances, medication, social training, as well as leisure and cultural activities, and more.

As a support educator in the unit, you have a leading role in the unit's systematic quality work and development work in the LSS area. Your role includes promoting an ethical and humanistic approach towards users to ensure that the work meets legislation and conditions for good living conditions. The position includes monitoring developments in the LSS area, identifying the need for competence development in the organization, and proposing measures to the immediate supervisor. You have a special focus on the user's independence, participation, and communication opportunities through various alternative and complementary communication methods. The position also includes actively participating and, if necessary, leading network meetings for support educators within the Functional Support department or contributing your expertise where needed.

Main tasks include, in addition to user-related work, guiding and mentoring colleagues in specific issues and professional ethical dilemmas, being a role model in everyday educational work, and developing, teaching, and following up on educational methods in the workgroup based on the users' individual needs. You act as a resource for new assignments and can support colleagues in social documentation, establishing deviations, and in connection with network meetings regarding users.

The working hours are scheduled around the clock and are adapted to the needs of the operation.

Your skills

We are looking for someone with the following education:

Vocational college education for support educators
University education that the employer deems appropriate
For the title of support educator, a post-secondary specialization in the field of disabilities is required, covering at least 200 vocational education points or 60 university points or a combination thereof equivalent to at least two semesters of full-time studies. The education should have a clear focus on the field of disabilities throughout its scope

We prefer if you have previous experience as a support educator or support assistant, or have experience in care-related and/or educational work. It is positive if you have experience in clear pedagogy.

As a person, you are good at conveying security, have a low-affect approach, and can handle complex expressions. You are stress-resistant, value collaboration, and exhibit a professional approach to everyone in your work. You work from a holistic perspective and have the ability to plan and structure your work. Furthermore, you need to be able to make your own decisions while respecting decisions made by others and can perform work on behalf of others.
