About the Workplace, SVA

Dangerous animal infections can have serious consequences, from suffering in animals and humans to economic losses and disruptions in food supply. The Swedish National Veterinary Institute, SVA, is an expert authority that strengthens Sweden's ability to combat animal diseases that pose threats to critical societal functions through diagnostics, research, and advice. Healthy animals – safe people.

Job Responsibilities

Lead and participate in research and development projects both within SVA and in collaboration with other organizations. The work includes communicating with the surrounding community, both in writing and verbally.

The projects will primarily focus on safe feed, water, and environment for animals or how animals, vectors, and animal husbandry can be affected by climate change and what adaptations need to be made in relation to this. The projects may also belong to SVA's work within civil defense.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree and experience in managing and leading projects, preferably in an academic context or at a government agency.

Particular emphasis will be placed on personal qualities, such as being curious, flexible, and efficient. You are interested in the assignment and have good collaborative skills as well as personal maturity.

Desirable

  • knowledge of hazards in animal feed and water
  • knowledge of hazards in animal environments
  • experience in climate adaptation
  • experience in preparedness issues and work with civil defense
  • experience in citizen science and communication in media

Conditions

The position is a temporary appointment from 2025-07-01 to 2025-12-31.

Through diagnostics, research, and expertise, SVA contributes to good animal health and reduced transmission of diseases between animals and humans. With the COVID-19 pandemic fresh in our minds, we know that animal diseases can become a threat to society and severely impact Sweden's food supply, health, and economy. As a preparedness authority, SVA is part of the Food Supply and Drinking Water sector.
