About the role

In this role, you will be employed by Serkon but work as a consultant for the company's clients. As an accounting economist at Serkon, you will play a central role in managing ongoing accounting and reporting within municipal finance. You will work to ensure that accounting and financial reports are handled correctly and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The role includes both operational and coordinating tasks, where you keep the daily accounting together and act as support to the client's CFO. You will be involved in the year-end closing work and help the client prepare materials for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

The role requires a good understanding of municipal accounting and investment accounting, as well as a strong sense of responsibility to ensure that the accounting is correct.

Examples of tasks:

- Responsible for ongoing bookkeeping – ensuring correct handling of business transactions, such as incoming and outgoing invoices

- Responsible for VAT and tax reporting – managing and reporting VAT and other taxes

- Year-end closing work – preparing materials for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

- Responsible for accounts receivable and accounts payable – ensuring correct handling of incoming and outgoing payments

- Income statement and balance sheet – preparing and analyzing financial reports

- Budget and forecasts – participating in financial planning and follow-up

- Financial advice – providing support to municipal management

- Contact with authorities and auditors – managing communication during, for example, year-end audits

About you

We are looking for someone with a background in accounting and a strong understanding of financial processes. You are meticulous, structured, and have a strong sense of responsibility when it comes to ensuring that the accounting is correct. Since you will be working on client assignments, it is important that you can quickly familiarize yourself with the organization's processes and understand how the financial work is structured. You thrive in a role where you can take significant responsibility while collaborating well with colleagues and clients to create efficient financial processes.

Furthermore, you are professional and pedagogical in your communication, and you have the ability to explain financial contexts clearly and understandably. We also see that you are unpretentious and have a solution-oriented attitude, where you can balance independent work with teamwork and advisory.

To fit in the role, we see that you have:

- Bachelor's degree in finance or vocational training in accounting

- At least 5 years of experience in accounting within the municipal or private sector

- Experience in preparing materials for year-end closing – monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

- Knowledge of investment and asset accounting

- Very good skills in Excel and experience with various financial systems (e.g., UNIT4 – ERP, Raindance, Visma, or Hypergene)

- Good understanding of accounting regulations and VAT regulations

- Good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written

- A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle

It is an advantage if you have experience working as an accounting manager within municipal operations. If you have equivalent experience from the private sector, it is important that you have worked independently with the entire process surrounding year-end closing.

Location: Vellinge or Malmö. Serkon has offices in Vellinge, Malmö, Helsingborg, and Växjö.

Scope: Full-time, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with the possibility of flexibility.
