About the Unit
161st Air Surveillance Battalion is part of F16. The battalion's main task is to be responsible for monitoring Sweden's airspace and air operations control. The battalion is daily engaged in operational activities. Other tasks include the operation and protection of fortification command posts and the grouping of mobile sensors and radio systems across Sweden's territory. Therefore, the battalion consists of companies that are spread across different geographical locations.

About the Job
As a serving logistics soldier, you are expected to handle and master cargo handling, transportation, vehicle service, and fire protection including smoke diving as your main tasks.
You are comfortable with varying tasks. You should be prepared to solve emerging urgent tasks. Uncertain task conditions require continuous safety awareness, as well as responsibility and initiative from each employee. The position includes training activities and possibly real national missions.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Swedish military basic training for at least 6 months or GMU
- Passed work test according to AFS 2007:7
- Category B driving license
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who enjoys working both alone and in a group in a routine but demanding work environment. You are flexible, responsible, and actively work to solve the group's and platoon's assigned tasks and your personal development. You have a strong interest in machines and vehicles.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment type: According to the agreement for GSS/K (Group Leader, Soldier Sailor) with a contract of up to 8 years and the possibility of extension for an additional 4 years. The employment may start with a 6-month probationary period.

Uppland Air Wing, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and monitoring of Uppsala Airport as well as training conscripts in various positions within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Command and Air Surveillance Battalion, which controls fighter aircraft in the air and manages the continuous monitoring of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several locations across the country and constitutes an important part of the growth period that the Air Force is facing.
