Laboratory Employees in Clinical Genetics and Molecular Diagnostics
REGION SKÅNE 6 days left
to apply for the job
Make a Difference. Every Day.
We are now welcoming driven and dedicated laboratory employees to join us!
The Clinical Genetics, Pathology, and Molecular Diagnostics area has over 400 employees distributed across four locations in Skåne and consists of the sections of clinical genetics, clinical pathology, and molecular diagnostics. The Molecular Diagnostics section was established at the turn of 2021 to consolidate expertise, resources, and technology, as well as to strengthen and develop operations in this expanding field. The section is led by a section manager who is the immediate supervisor for about thirty employees with specialist competencies such as clinical geneticists, molecular biologists, and bioinformaticians. Within the section, there are also about sixty laboratory employees divided into three laboratory units led by three unit managers.
Work within the section occurs in close collaboration between the different units and in cooperation with several areas of medical services as well as Lund University. The work is conducted within the framework of national initiatives such as Genomic Medicine Sweden. This is to strengthen clinical implementation of research and development work. The section's mission is to conduct highly specialized and modern laboratory diagnostics across many different methodological areas, from classical cytogenetics to massive parallel sequencing (MPS/NGS) via targeted dPCR/PCR/FISH-based genetic analyses and to introduce new methods and analyses based on the growing needs of healthcare.
The section includes the node Center for Molecular Diagnostics (CMD) where the work is primarily focused on massive parallel sequencing (MPS/NGS). The operation conducts routine diagnostics in several areas (gene panels, RNA sequencing, and whole genome sequencing) but is also very development-intensive. In 2024, more than 11,000 MPS analyses were performed at CMD focusing on both cancer, hereditary issues, and microbiology. About 40 employees with expertise in NGS, bioinformatics, and various disease areas work at the CMD node.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for two new employees! One permanent position and one temporary position for 2025.
We offer an exciting, developing, and responsible job primarily based on MPS technology. With us, you will be involved in the continued expansion and development of a business that conducts modern clinical diagnostics within healthcare.
You will primarily work with the execution of established routine analyses, mainly laboratory work. An important part of our current work involves automating manual laboratory tasks on automation instruments. Additionally, the work involves continuous improvement efforts and the development of new analyses/methods as well as technical responsibility for, e.g., instruments. The work is carried out in close collaboration with primarily clinical geneticists/molecular geneticists and physicians within our own area of operations as well as from other laboratory medical specialties.
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome you with an appropriate university degree in a natural science area, such as molecular biology or biomedical sciences. Good knowledge of Swedish and English is a prerequisite for the position. In addition, you should have documented experience in clinical diagnostics based on molecular genetic methods. Previous experience with MPS-based lab protocols and experience with MPS protocols on automation instruments is strongly meritorious. Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have experience with quality-assured working methods within accredited operations. To succeed in the role, you also need to have good computer skills and preferably experience with laboratory data systems.
As a person, we wish for you to be meticulous, well-structured, responsible, and quality-conscious. You have good collaboration skills, are adaptable, and enjoy contributing to routine diagnostics, development, and continuous improvement. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
In this recruitment, ongoing selection is applied, and we warmly welcome your application today!
