Career and Guidance Counselor at Komvux Malmö

We are looking for an engaged and experienced career and guidance counselor for our municipal adult education within vocational training. In this role, you will be a key person supporting our students throughout their educational journey and helping them create good conditions for both further studies and working life.

Responsibilities

As a career and guidance counselor in upper secondary vocational education, you will work with guidance, administration, collaboration, development, and marketing. You will provide free and independent guidance with a norm-critical, objective, and neutral approach. Through individual conversations and group guidance, you will support students at various stages of their education and participate in teaching about working life, the labor market, and further studies. You will conduct motivational conversations and introduce new students. Administrative tasks are also included, such as reviewing applications and establishing and following up on individual study plans (ISP).

You will collaborate with career and guidance counselors, teachers, and other school staff, as well as external actors, including Malmökraften, where schools, the Employment Service, the Social Insurance Agency, social services, and Region Skåne cooperate. Additionally, you will have contact with the industry to optimize support for students. To ensure relevant guidance, you will stay updated on legislation, research, and the labor market and contribute to systematic quality and development work, including through specific development assignments. Furthermore, you will participate in information and marketing efforts to increase engagement in adult education and mentor future career and guidance counselors during their training.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from the career and guidance counseling program (180 credits).
• Experience working as a career and guidance counselor in upper secondary education.
• Good experience collaborating with other authorities and participating in various networks.
• Good knowledge of the governing documents of upper secondary school.
• Good digital competence, meaning it is natural to use digital tools as working instruments and aids, as well as a willingness and ability to familiarize yourself with new programs and systems.
• Very good Swedish in speech and writing.

Meritorious:

• Experience working as a career and guidance counselor in Komvux.
• Experience working with vocational training.

As a person, you have a good understanding of upper secondary vocational education and the labor market and are a responsive and structured individual with ease in collaborating and building trust with both students and teachers. With a strong commitment to supporting students in their education and career choices, you are passionate about guiding and inspiring them in their future decisions. You have the ability to conduct motivational conversations and create a positive learning environment that fosters development and learning. Additionally, you are curious about organizational development and driven to contribute to improvements in the work. As a responsible and meticulous person, you also handle administrative tasks efficiently and in a structured manner.
