I am a married woman in my 70s living in a large modern apartment very centrally in Gothenburg and I am looking for a personal assistant.

I need help and support to function and therefore have double assistance during the daytime. Together with another assistant, you will help me with most daily activities, such as hygiene, interpreting what I want, and various forms of training and leisure activities.

I need assistance during the day, every day of the week. Two assistants work from 08:00 to 13:30 and two from 14:30 to 20:00. It is also possible to choose two consecutive shifts. You will be part of a team that has a great influence over its working hours, and we also communicate with each other via a common phone group. You will notify which shifts you want to work, and if they are available, you will get them. This way, you will also know which shifts you have been assigned for the upcoming four weeks.

Just before Christmas in 2001, I had a brain hemorrhage that was classified as a work injury, and a few years later, I was injured during an operation to help me walk a little better. It completely failed, and instead, I became completely wheelchair-bound. Today, I have regained some mobility in my left arm and foot. I have also lost my speech but understand everything that is said and am good at showing what I need help with.

My interests are general, and I enjoy being outdoors, shopping, a bit of culture, and especially training, for which I need a lot of support.

• You are proficient in Swedish, as you will need to interpret for me in my surroundings.
• You are secure and have a good sense of humor and see care as a given.
• You should have experience and good teamwork skills and be used to working with people. Personal chemistry is important, and I place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

The position starts as a hourly employment, and if we enjoy working together, the employment can transition to a fixed-term contract as long as the assistance assignment lasts, with a working degree of 50%.

GIL has coordinated personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that those with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Normally, the person entitled to assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with special knowledge about the person entitled to assistance is appointed.
