Description

Do you want to help develop the accounting unit in Arvika Municipality? We are looking for someone who is passionate about finance and accounting, and who wants to contribute your expertise to develop and modernize our processes and tools.

Together with five colleagues in the accounting unit, you will provide support and service to the entire municipality on accounting issues related to both operations and investments. Development is a natural part of our work, and we always strive for continuous improvements in the accounting area. The accounting unit is part of the finance department, which also handles finance and governance, operational support, and procurement.

Responsibilities

Your role includes a development and advisory responsibility where you analyze, improve, and develop accounting processes, routines, and systems. You will work both strategically and operationally to manage accounting issues, such as ensuring accurate annual accounts, annual reports, and interim reports. Therefore, we are looking for someone who easily adapts to new systems and wants to drive development related to digitalization and efficiency of financial processes.

As the accounting manager, you will work closely with the CFO and be part of the CFO's management team. Together with the CFO, you will work on strategic development issues within the municipal group, not only concerning accounting. Tasks and investigations related to financial issues, financial management, the budgeting process, corporate governance within the municipality's corporate group, and broader investigations and development issues will be part of your responsibilities. Therefore, previous experience in these areas is advantageous.

You will also serve as a key person and advisor to the municipal leadership, auditors, and other departments and companies, which means a high degree of independence in your work.

Qualifications

  • University degree in finance, preferably with a focus on accounting
  • At least five years of experience in qualified accounting tasks, experience with municipal accounting, either through auditing for a municipality or directly in a municipality is advantageous
  • Experience in preparing consolidated financial statements or group accounts, cash flows, tax calculations, annual reports, and interim reports.
  • Good administrative skills as well as strong system and Excel skills
  • Good knowledge in preparing formal documents such as routine and process descriptions, memos, service letters, and other written materials
  • Previous experience working with financial issues, financial management, and corporate governance is advantageous

About the Position

The position is a permanent employment. A probationary period may be applied. Start date in August 2025 or as agreed.
