All students have the right to a school that provides them with the opportunity to develop based on their own conditions. SPSM operates schools on behalf of the state. We offer students a learning environment that provides them with opportunities for participation, learning, and development. We provide meaningful, stimulating, and important pedagogical work in our schools.

Östervångsskolan in Lund offers bilingual instruction in a sign language environment for students from preschool to grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish sign language and written Swedish. We offer accommodation for students who cannot commute to school every day.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on instruction. You lead and organize the work to create a safe and developing learning environment, and together with your colleagues, you create opportunities for students to follow their learning and development both individually and in groups.

In accordance with curricula, syllabi, grading criteria, and based on students' needs, you adapt and design instruction and assess the effectiveness of various teaching strategies, adjusting instruction accordingly. You are a mentor for a class or student group and are responsible for the tasks included in this role. The individual student's needs and knowledge development are assessed, documented, and followed up. Together with colleagues and guardians, you have close collaboration around the students and actively participate in the school's contacts with the community at large, wanting to contribute to the school's development.

You conduct instruction in Swedish sign language, and if you initially do not master the language, you collaborate with a sign language interpreter.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following are required for the position:

• Teaching certification for special school grades 4-7 or 8-10 in the subjects of Swedish and mathematics
• Experience working in a special school
• Swedish sign language and written Swedish
• Good general IT skills and knowledge of M365/VKlass as well as systems aimed at supporting work with students.

It is an advantage to have:

• Qualifications in other subjects
• Knowledge/training in adapted primary school
• Experience working with children and youth
• Knowledge of deaf culture
• Knowledge of various disabilities.

We are looking for someone who works well independently but can also collaborate effectively with others. You build good and sustainable relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You drive your work independently and according to the assignment you have. You take responsibility, find solutions, and contribute to the school's development. You have a positive attitude and a desire to be part of our team.
