Police Region East is organized into three police areas: Södermanland, Östergötland, and Jönköping, which are further divided into nine local police areas. Additionally, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the investigation unit, and the intelligence unit, a regional office, as well as national departments represented in the region to support police operations.

The Jönköping police area belongs to Region East. The geographical area extends over 13 municipalities. The Jönköping police area is divided into three local police areas: Höglandet, Södra Vätterbygden, and Värnamo. At the police area level, there is an investigation section and a police area office.

The local police area Höglandet is part of the Jönköping police area. Within the local police area, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, as well as support and service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a seizure officer, you will work in a group with case handlers, administrators, and police officers under the leadership of a group manager. In the group, you will be one of two responsible for seizure management.

The seizure operation has an overarching responsibility for all seizures held by the police. This means that you will have contact with investigators, lead investigators, prosecutors, courts, and above all, the public.

Your role as a seizure officer includes:

  • Handling incoming seizures.
  • Administering goods in DurTvå and other IT systems.
  • Storing, selling, and destroying goods.
  • Interpreting judgments to implement decisions.
  • Assisting the public via phone, visits, and email.
  • Goods search.

You will handle hazardous goods such as gasoline, gases, and explosive substances. The work may occasionally be physical, which means that heavy lifting may occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Completed and approved upper secondary education.
  • Driver's license for manual transmission.

We consider it meritorious if you also have:

  • Other education that the employer assesses as relevant, for example, in law.
  • Experience working in police systems.
  • Experience in seizure management.
  • Experience working with statistics, judgments, and prosecutor decisions.
  • Experience from the judiciary.
  • Forklift license.
  • Other driving license qualifications.

Personal qualities

To thrive in the role of seizure officer, you need to be meticulous and structured. Since the work involves close contact with other parts of the organization, you must be communicative and have good collaboration skills. The tasks also require you to be self-driven and able to take your own initiatives. You have a desire and good ability to learn and acquire new knowledge. We consider it a given that you have personal maturity and a legally secure mindset.
