Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Stigby

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

SiS Youth Home Stigby on Visingsö has room for about 30 young people and receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We are divided into a MBB department (reception and needs assessment), four treatment departments, and we also have an aftercare unit in Jönköping.

Job Description

Do you want to help create the vital difference for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your mission is to motivate our young people to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you ensure that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and safety of our youth and clients, providing the foundation for daily life such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You contribute to maintaining safety in the institution according to our routines, and documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and contribute to ensuring that our young people/clients receive the safety and security they need to break habitual behaviors. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, engagement, and attitude.

Working hours are according to a schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.

The work schedule for treatment assistants is commuter-friendly and well-adapted, even for those living a bit further away. During a month, you will make about four trips to Visingsö. Compressed work allows for nine consecutive days off every third week. We who work here often commute together from Jönköping, and the journey by car and ferry takes about 1 hour.

Health and wellness benefits are offered to all employees, including those working as substitutes. The state also offers many benefits; see more at http://www.stat-inst.se/arbeta-hos-oss/formaner/ (http://www.stat-inst.se/arbeta-hos-oss/formaner/)

As a summer substitute at SiS, you will undergo a tailored introductory training to prepare you for your mission.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is the key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of people, a high degree of empathy, and the ability to create good relationships. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in stressful situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You should also have:

  • Completed upper secondary education
  • No experience required, but we prefer that you are studying social work or have tried working with youth in a professional or recreational setting
  • Driving license B
  • Good Swedish in speech and writing

Meritorious:

  • Education in health and care
  • Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care)

You share our vision of being a place for change, which is reflected in your approach, engagement, and attitude.

We want to reward you for helping us during the summer period; therefore, those who work full-time as monthly employed substitutes for more than four weeks will receive a bonus. Read more at https://www.stat-inst.se/jobba-hos-oss/lediga-jobb/ (https://www.stat-inst.se/jobba-hos-oss/lediga-jobb/)
