About the Department of Operational Support
As a study advisor at the Department of Applied IT, you will be part of the Operational Support Department, which is responsible for personnel, finance, research, and study administration, study guidance, and communication. The department consists of 11 people, including two study advisors, and is led by an administrative manager.
The Department of Applied Information Technology has belonged to the Faculty of Science and Engineering since the beginning of 2025 and is currently in an exciting development phase regarding the optimization of processes and routines. In this work, you have the opportunity to influence and contribute to the development of internationalization efforts at the department and faculty.
Job Responsibilities
Together with the other study advisor, you will be our primary contact for both admitted and prospective students regarding study and career guidance related to the department's educational programs and courses through guidance conversations, study planning, and follow-up. Contacts occur via reception on campus, digitally, by phone, and via email. The work involves both individual conversations and various types of group activities. We operate according to the Policy for Study and Career Advisors at the University of Gothenburg, which is based on the premise that study and career guidance is a pedagogical task that is part of the educational process.
In addition to guiding students, the position includes handling admission and eligibility issues, credit transfers, and study breaks, as well as providing support to students in need of pedagogical assistance. Furthermore, it includes planning and participating in outreach activities and student recruitment, such as open days, fairs, and the introduction of new students.
This position also includes being the department's international coordinator, which involves administering work related to exchange studies and providing information and support to students who are undertaking or wish to undertake exchange studies in other countries. The work is carried out in collaboration with other staff working with educational issues at the department and faculty.
The tasks are performed independently and in collaboration with your study advisor colleague, aiming to support each other.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in study and career guidance. Experience in study and career guidance, or equivalent tasks from a university or college, is strongly meritorious. Furthermore, experience in handling students' exchange studies from a university or college, as well as knowledge in one of the department's subject areas, is also meritorious.
You have knowledge of course and program syllabi, degree descriptions, and study plans. Experience with the University of Gothenburg's administrative systems such as LADOK, Canvas, and Mobility Online is also meritorious.
You have an interest in educational issues and internationalization efforts and can communicate information about these in a pedagogical manner. The work requires a high degree of independence combined with the ability to collaborate, administrative skills, and high social competence, as well as the ability to communicate since the work involves many contacts.
The tasks require objectivity, responsiveness, and integrity. You are good at planning and organizing/structuring your work. The role requires excellent knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as well as very good IT and system proficiency. You should also feel comfortable providing information and lecturing to larger groups.

Employment
The position is a fixed-term employment (specific fixed-term employment) until 2026-08-27 with a workload of 100% of full-time, located at the Department of Applied IT. Start date 2025-09-01 or by agreement.
