Do you want to help develop the school library services in Finspång? Finspång Municipality initiated a major investment in our school library services in 2021 with high ambitions and a focus on equitable access to school libraries and school librarians in our schools.

The position includes responsibility for two primary schools (F-6) and all schools have organized school libraries on site.

What can we offer you?

As a school librarian, you contribute to making the school library a place where students want to be, enhancing their reading interest and habits. You work to promote reading and collaborate with the school's educators on teaching media and information literacy.

Our school librarian positions include time to meet with other school librarians and, together with the municipality's school library coordinator, develop the school library services based on equity, follow-up, and collaboration. The school librarian network meets one afternoon every other week, and participation in these meetings is mandatory.

Your future tasks:

You will be responsible for the school library and its collection, which includes standard tasks such as purchasing books, shelving, and signage. Our school libraries use the library data system Book-it and the school library system WeLib.

You will collaborate with educators to design activities that contribute to students' achievement of goals, and you will actively work to build good relationships with the students. As a school librarian, you are expected to work both to promote reading and with media and information literacy.

The role also involves?

It is important that you can independently lead and organize your work to create a pleasant and safe learning and reading environment for the students. The position requires a willingness and ability to collaborate with the school's educators both in the library and in the classrooms. You need to be able to work towards both municipality-wide and locally set goals and be willing to collaborate and develop together with other school librarians in the municipality.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in library and information science or other education that the employer deems equivalent. Previous experience working in school libraries, schools, or libraries is an advantage.

For this position, you need a B driver's license. Since you will be working with children and youth, we also require you to provide a criminal record extract before employment.
