Make a Difference. Every Day.
Do you have personal experience with mental health issues and have you recovered? Are you interested in an exciting position with us where you can apply your coping strategies in your work? Then do not hesitate to apply for the position!
At our reception on Drottninggatan, we assess, investigate, diagnose, and treat individuals with psychotic disorders. We work according to the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) method, which means high flexibility and availability where many visits occur outside the reception. The foundation of our approach is a recovery-oriented perspective. We have a close collaboration with Malmö City, where the reception's four teams are integrated with employed staff from both main authorities, both the region and the municipality. About 60 people work at the reception: nurses, housing pedagogues, employment specialists, doctors, peer support, nursing assistants, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, medical secretaries, and unit managers.
Currently, we have two peer supporters employed, and our vision is to have four to ensure good staffing for all teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are now welcoming two peer supporters for temporary positions at our reception on Drottninggatan!
As a peer supporter with us, you have a central role; your presence and engagement are of utmost importance in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone. The workplace is characterized by great flexibility and a strong sense of community. In your role, you are an important part of the recovery-focused work that the teams do. The tasks are multifaceted and are completely tailored to each patient's unique needs. In the position, you draw from your own experiences of recovery from mental health issues, which is a crucial part of how you perform your daily work. The tools you have for managing and recovering from mental health issues are essential for being able to provide supportive work for our patients.
You will have scheduled conversations with our participants, mostly as home visits or out in the community, and you will also facilitate groups, primarily Narrative Enhancement and Cognitive Therapy (NECT). Together with the participant, you will explore various strategies for managing the illness and improving their well-being. By listening to their needs and experiences, you contribute to creating a meaningful and person-centered care environment where each individual feels seen and heard. Your contributions are recorded, and you document in the Melior journal system, so some administrative work is included.
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome you who have completed the National Collaboration for Mental Health (NSPH) training for Peer Support and who have personal experience of recovery from mental health issues, preferably with experience of psychosis. Additionally, you should be able to express yourself in Swedish both verbally and in writing.
It is advantageous for the position if you have:
- Healthcare, social, or educational training.
- Individual Placement and Support (IPS) training.
Please describe how you can use your own experiences in the role of peer support in your application.
As an individual, you are committed, attentive, structured, flexible, and supportive in your approach. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively with others. Your primary goal is to strengthen hope and self-confidence in those you support. Furthermore, you are a communicative and empathetic person, which allows you to build meaningful and trusting relationships with participants. Your ability to listen actively and adapt to different situations makes you a reliable and respected colleague. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and commitment.
