JOB DESCRIPTION

Your main task is to teach students in a class in a special needs school where students follow the curriculum subjects. You will have pedagogical responsibility for the students' education and work closely with resource teachers, teaching assistants, and other teachers and staff in the unit. Your placement will be in a work team where you, as a teacher, lead and distribute the work within the team together with a colleague.

Capellaskolan consists of a special needs primary school and a special needs upper secondary school. We work together as a unit where flexibility and collaboration across grade boundaries are success factors in meeting individual student needs. Working at our school means you need to be able to serve in different classes and adapt your teaching based on various curricula and individual needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a primary school teacher, lower primary teacher, middle school teacher, or equivalent, and who has an advanced training as a special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities. A basic requirement for the position is that you hold a teaching degree. It is a plus if you are qualified in physical education and/or home economics, but it is not a requirement.

For a permanent position as a special education teacher, you must have completed the advanced training for special education teachers with a focus on intellectual disabilities. If the advanced training is lacking, the employment will instead be written as a fixed-term contract.

Experience in teaching in a special needs primary school is desirable. In our operations, we use sign language support in most classes. Visual support in teaching is used in all classes, and we see this as a natural part of our learning environment. You need to have knowledge of documentation and IT skills as students use Chromebooks and iPads in their education.

As a person, you are engaged, flexible, responsive, and have an easy time building relationships with both students, guardians, and colleagues. You can work both independently and in a team. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
