We are now looking for another Power System Specialist focusing on regional networks within Facility Development to join us at Vattenfall Eldistribution. We are looking for someone with a burning interest in technology development and electrical power who wants to work at the forefront of the ongoing energy transition. The Facility Development unit within Asset Management currently consists of 16 employees with high technical competence, and we need to grow! Vattenfall Eldistribution is facing significant investment increases in the coming years, and it is essential to develop our facilities so that they can be built resource- and cost-effectively while being climate-sustainable and robust. Facility Development contributes to the development of the electricity grid in line with societal development, and we are responsible for technical development pilots, technical reviews of investment projects, and technical governing documents. Our department is characterized by high competence, will, and energy. We are fully focused on the mission and also ensure that we have fun at work.

As a Power System Specialist in facility development for regional networks, your main tasks will be to:

  • Drive, coordinate, and participate in development initiatives, both technical pilots and investigations
  • Identify technical development areas and propose technical studies within the framework of the technology development portfolio
  • Ensure the implementation of developed technology through evaluation, incorporation into facility design documents, training, and feedback
  • Translate results from technical development projects and investigations into requirements in technical documents and communicate, anchor, and implement changed requirements to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop, create, and manage governing documents, technical guidelines, and specifications
  • Monitor technical facility development nationally and internationally in collaboration with the organization
  • Participate in external and internal technical working groups regarding facility design

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, energy systems, engineering physics, or mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on electrical power or energy technology. Equivalent competence may be acquired in other ways that we assess as equivalent
  • Several years of work experience in the electrical power industry with a focus on regional or transmission networks
  • Interest and experience in working with technology development
  • Understanding of the structure and function of electricity grids and knowledge of what is required to achieve high delivery and personnel safety
  • Knowledge of substations and overhead lines and their components such as switchgear, power transformers, control systems, and poles
  • Ability to consider both technical and economic aspects in the short and long term and find solutions that ensure both regulatory requirements and customer needs
  • Ability to apply electrical industry laws, requirements, and guidelines
  • Fluency in both spoken and written Swedish and English

It is a plus if you have:

  • Specialist knowledge in primary and secondary equipment, such as switchgear, transformers, relay protection, and measuring instruments
  • Several years of experience in technology development projects, as a specialist and/or project manager
  • Extensive experience in formulating and concretizing technical requirements as well as interpreting standards and regulations
  • Very good knowledge of high voltage regulations, ESA, and relevant IEC standards
  • Engaged in industry-wide forums such as CIGRÈ, SEK, or EBR
  • Driving license B

We also see that you have good verbal skills and possess a high and well-developed ability to collaborate as you participate in various projects and work towards different stakeholders. Location

Preferably one of our offices in Solna, Trollhättan, or Umeå, but placement in Luleå, Västerås, Uppsala, Gothenburg, or Linköping can also be discussed. Travel may occur in the position.
