We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer for road projects at the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). The stationing location is Skellefteå, and it is required to be physically present at the office once a week.

This is a consulting assignment.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

The assignment consists of the following: • Resource consultant maintenance engineer BAS maintenance road for the road section middle, region North, Operational Area Maintenance. The assignment includes transferring knowledge to employees at the Swedish Transport Administration regarding the tasks performed by the resource consultant for the Swedish Transport Administration.

Main tasks of the consultant:Utility Matters

• Support project management regarding utility works by following up, controlling, and ensuring that the execution of utility installations complies with the requirements set in permits, e.g., through site visits. • Provide statements regarding applications for utility matters. • Assist project managers with technical expertise regarding road engineering issues. • Complementary inspections before and after utility works. • Check signage and closures.

Basic Maintenance Contract Road

• Follow up on delivery quality by monitoring the contractor's quality plan, control program, and self-monitoring. Check the contractor's verifications. • Establish and follow up on a self-monitoring plan based on contract documents against the contractor. • Check and ensure that the contractor provides the required documentation according to the contract and that it meets the set requirements. • Conduct inspections of the work area and document these. • Follow up on the contractor's diary at least once a week and keep a diary of one's own work. • Conduct spot checks on the contractor's measurements and quantity calculations. • Preparation, implementation, and documentation of various forms of additional orders to the BAS contract. • Prepare decision-making material for contracted quantity and cost adjustments as well as for changes. • Review and approve verifications as the basis for the contractor's invoicing. • Conduct final inspections of ordered measures. • Assist, prepare, and manage contacts at the project manager's request, especially with actors such as local traffic and emergency services. • Review work preparations before work begins. • Conduct ongoing supervision of the contractor's work. • Establish maintenance instructions and lists. • Conduct annual inspections and contract closure regarding the BAS contract. • Prepare establishment and start-up of contracts regarding the BAS contract.

Good knowledge is expected in:

• Operation and maintenance of roads. • Road contracts. • IT-based management systems within the operational area, such as GPD, MIP, SPVA, VViS, etc.

Requirements (NOTE, mandatory)

  • Have completed training to function as the Client's construction work environment coordinator, BAS-P and BAS-U.

    Be able to express oneself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Hold a valid B driver's license. Technical education at the upper secondary level or other relevant education deemed equivalent by the client. At least five (5) years of work experience (as a maintenance engineer/construction manager or in a supervisory role) within the relevant technical area (BAS maintenance road or equivalent). Work experience must not be older than ten (10) years. The consultant must have completed at least two (2) reference assignments as a construction manager or in a supervisory role within road maintenance where coordination has been important. The experience must have been acquired in the last 5 years counted from the last bidding date. Knowledge of laws and regulations as well as standards and directives within the relevant area, such as AMA, contract law, winter road maintenance, etc. Competence according to TDOK 2018:0371 APV, at least steps 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3. Approved and valid training can be supplemented later, but no later than 2025-06-31.
