Competence Developer at the Court Academy
As an employee of the Swedish Courts Administration, you have the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of the entire Swedish court system, which consists of about 80 courts, authorities, and boards with approximately 7,000 employees. About 400 employees at the Swedish Courts Administration work to develop and support the Swedish courts, with the headquarters located centrally in Jönköping, and local offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, and Umeå. Our operations are characterized by trust-based leadership and active employee participation. We strive for a gender-equal workplace and offer interesting tasks in a pleasant and modern environment. We also offer the possibility of remote work.
The Court Academy is now seeking a Competence Developer
Did you know that the Court Academy organizes over 200 training sessions per year and is responsible for all legal competence development for judges and other court lawyers working in the adjudicative activities of the Swedish courts? The Court Academy also participates extensively in international networks for educational issues.
Why should you apply?
The education of judges and future judges plays an important role in a rule of law. This helps to preserve and strengthen the independence and high competence of the courts. In Sweden, it is the Court Academy that has the mandate to provide such education.
Through your work at the Court Academy, you will have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with teachers and other individuals working inside and outside the Swedish courts. Some of our work is international, and there may be contacts with other countries.
What does the job entail?
As a competence developer at the Court Academy, you will work on planning, implementing, and developing legal training tailored to the needs of the courts. You will also have the opportunity to work on other tasks within the academy. The job involves a lot of contact with teachers from the courts as well as external lecturers from universities, other authorities, and the private sector, as well as with other employees at the Swedish Courts Administration. The work is independent but requires good collaboration skills.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone with a law degree and several years of experience working in a court as a judicial clerk or preparation lawyer, specializing in one or more of our main subject areas (criminal law, family law, procedural law, administrative procedural law, immigration law, environmental law, social insurance law, public procurement, tax law). We prefer if you have been appointed as a notary. We particularly value practical experience in competence development within public service. Educational training or experience in teaching is an advantage.
To succeed as a competence developer at the Court Academy, you must have strong analytical skills. You should also be able to collaborate easily with others and communicate clearly, adapting your message to the audience and situation. Since we are a small organization with a broad mandate, it is also important that you can work independently and manage multiple issues simultaneously. You should also be interested in development issues and have a good ability to adapt to changing conditions. We expect you to be receptive and unpretentious in your interactions with colleagues and contribute to a positive atmosphere in the workplace.
To be considered for the position, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means standing up for democratic values and the state values that govern the operations of the Swedish courts. We require compliance with applicable laws. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.
Who are we?
The Court Academy is an independent unit within the Swedish Courts Administration, governed by a rector and led by a head of administration. Within the Court Academy, court-trained competence developers, educational administrators, and subject-responsible judges work. The Court Academy is a workplace where joy at work, engagement, trust, and accountability are important guiding principles. The work is characterized by a high degree of delegation and significant responsibility for employees.
