Social Worker for Student Health and Coordination

In 2023, the government assigned the Swedish Agency for Family Law and Parental Support to distribute and follow up on a grant aimed at strengthening parenting support initiatives. The purpose of the grant is to contribute to increased and equitable access to parenting support throughout the country, as well as to help prevent crime among children and young people. The funds should be used for parenting support initiatives provided either individually or in groups based on a National Strategy for (mfof.se) and its definition and three goal areas.

The Department of Student Health and Coordination is seeking a social worker who wants to be part of our important initiative to strengthen our parenting support efforts in the city's high schools. The position is a project employment from 2025-08-19 to 2026-06-21.

Responsibilities

In your role, you will provide support to parents with children in municipal high schools. You will focus on creating a safe and supportive environment that promotes students' development towards the school's goals and identifying and initiating preventive measures. Your tasks include leading parent education sessions, offering support conversations to parents on an individual level, and participating in parent meetings.

You will work closely with the school's student health team, social work team, and staff within student health and coordination, as well as other services in Malmö City. By actively participating in this collaboration and contributing to systematic quality work, you strive to continuously improve support for both students and parents. Your goal is to create an environment where both students and parents feel secure and where students are given the best possible conditions to reach their full potential.

This position may require evening work.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work (210 credits)
  • Several years of experience in social work, focusing on children and youth
  • Good insight into social services legislation
  • Experience using digital tools for communication and pedagogy
  • Fluent Swedish in speech and writing

Meritorious:

  • Training in motivational interviewing
  • Experience working with children and youth in social services and/or schools
  • Good experience collaborating with other authorities and participating in various networks
  • Experience in providing parenting support
  • Experience in conducting motivational/coaching conversations
  • Experience leading groups
