Assistive Technology Consultant
The Assistive Technology Services are responsible for the operation of assistive technology for people with mobility impairments in the southern part of Stockholm County, as well as county-wide responsibility for individuals in need of consumable assistive devices at home, medical technology equipment at home, and communication, cognition, vision, and hearing aids.
KommSyn's county-wide area of responsibility and product range includes communication, cognition, vision, and hearing aids. In the southern part of Stockholm County, we are responsible for remote systems/environmental control and proximity alarms.
Job Responsibilities:
The work includes testing assistive devices, assortment work, and training for prescribers and students. As an assistive technology consultant, you provide advice and support to prescribers and patients in choosing assistive devices. Consultations take place at KommSyn Stockholm, but home visits are also common. You often work together with other professional categories, such as technicians and external suppliers. During procurement, you contribute your knowledge in the introduction of newly procured assortments.
Qualifications:
You are a licensed speech therapist. You have experience working with patients who need communication and conversation aids. Experience in pedagogical work and the business system Sesam 2 is an advantage.
Personal Qualities:
You should have good social skills, as you will be in contact with prescribers and patients in your daily work. The tasks require you to be good at problem-solving, have a good structure in your way of working, and be flexible. Contact with patients and prescribers occurs in the form of consultations, email, or phone advice, which requires you to be good at listening and analyzing needs to provide effective support. You should have a strong interest in new assistive devices and new technology.
Other:
A valid driver's license is required. Interviews may be conducted on an ongoing basis during the application period.
The position is filled under the condition that it does not need to be used for internal relocation, according to current regulations.
In patient-related work within the Stockholm County healthcare area:
- background checks will be applied before hiring decisions according to current guidelines.
- employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment medical examination, according to current directives, which is conducted through occupational health services before employment.
- in addition to Swedish professional certification, good knowledge of the Swedish language at level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is required. The same requirements apply to non-licensed personnel with patient contact.
