Development Leader Urban Development

The Social Administration Nordost works to provide residents in northeastern Gothenburg with equal and effective welfare, enabling them to live safe and independent lives. The administration supports individuals and families according to the Social Services Act. We also offer activities and meeting places that can provide children and young people with a meaningful leisure time. Additionally, the administration actively works with crisis support, safety issues, community life, public health, and contacts with residents and civil society.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for two individuals who want to help develop the work with urban development focusing on social experiences in community planning in the Nordost urban area. One position is a permanent employment and the other is a parental leave substitute.

As a development leader in urban development, you will drive issues of social sustainability in physical planning to increase knowledge about local perspectives and the needs of the population. Equal living conditions, safety-enhancing work in community planning, and combating segregation are some of the starting points for the work. The assignment includes having a good knowledge of Nordost's specific conditions regarding the population's living conditions and participating in the city's physical planning processes to benefit the entire city's development.

In your role as a development leader, you will identify and analyze important processes and trends that have, or may have, an impact on the development of Nordost and the city. Work with GIS and local knowledge on maps is part of the job. The development leader conducts or contributes to various types of information gathering and dialogues. You have knowledge of leading and participating in development work around social sustainability. The work also includes responding to referrals and statements concerning urban development and being the administration's contact person with other administrations, authorities, organizations, and individuals in overarching community development issues.

As a development leader in urban development, you primarily collaborate with colleagues in the Social Administration Nordost as well as colleagues in the other social administrations. You also have close collaboration and contact with colleagues in the planning administrations and other administrations in Gothenburg City.

The upcoming new Social Services Act has a particular focus on overarching planning and ensuring that social knowledge and perspectives are utilized in community planning.

As a development leader in urban development, you will have the following tasks:

  • Review planning documents and write the administration's statements on planning matters
  • Represent the administration in the city's planning work
  • Work with social impact assessments and children's impact assessments
  • Contribute to the work with the administration's knowledge base
  • Conduct investigations and analyses
  • Conduct information gathering and dialogues
  • Lead and participate in various working groups on social sustainability
  • Drive and contribute to development work to strengthen social perspectives in the city's planning process

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university education equivalent to a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as urban planning, city planning, architecture, cultural geography, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer. You should have good knowledge in development work around social sustainability and be able to work independently. You need to have several years of experience in similar work.

You have knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS), with practical experience working in QGIS being particularly meritorious. You need to have experience working with information gathering, for example, in the form of citizen dialogues. You also need to have knowledge of relevant legislation and working in a politically governed organization.

You understand the common mission and work to make it as good as possible. You are structured and development-oriented, motivated by learning new things and developing. You come up with new ideas and take the initiative for improvements.

You actively monitor developments in your professional field and regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your operations.
