The digital forestry is developing rapidly, and geodata is playing an increasingly important role. Skogforsk handles and processes large amounts of geographical data and other relevant data sources in order to map, analyze, and develop visualizations that make this information more accessible and useful.

Our Offer

As a GIS developer, you will be one of Skogforsk's experts in GIS and geodata. You will help develop and manage Skogforsk's GIS platform so that colleagues can use, access, and share geodata in various types of applications and services. The data is also used for demonstrations of various types of new applications for forestry. We primarily use Esri's products and FME.

To succeed in this role, you need to be responsive and skilled in communication to support colleagues and understand their needs. You will have close dialogue and collaboration with Skogforsk's other system developers and IT.

As a GIS developer, your responsibilities will include:

• Working on development by setting up, administering, developing, configuring, and testing applications in Skogforsk's GIS environment.
• Being involved in both the development and planning phases of various types of GIS solutions that will benefit the users.
• Participating in research projects related to GIS analysis, processing, and creating geodata.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is an engineer, computer scientist with a focus on GIS, GIS engineer, or has equivalent education and knowledge. The role requires several years of experience in GIS development.

Experience with Python and/or FME is an advantage as these are tools we use for both data management and integrations.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability and your ability to build relationships and create trust with various target groups, as you will work on several different types of projects at Skogforsk. You are curious, driven, engaged, creative, and have the ability to see the big picture. You are good at listening to user needs and communicating solution proposals.
