Department of Economics and Planning

The Department of Economics and Planning is responsible for the university's financial management, accounting, annual closing, budgeting and forecasting, financial follow-ups and analyses, financial administration, invoice management, travel services, operational planning and follow-up, as well as procurement. The department's mission is to work with both ongoing operational activities and with development and strategic issues within its areas of responsibility. The department consists of the units Accounting and Business Economics and a staff unit.

About the Position

Mid Sweden University is now seeking a qualified accountant for the position of financial specialist within the Accounting unit.

The unit handles budgeting, forecasting, project support, accounting, annual closing and annual reports, invoices, as well as the university's travel coordination. An important part of the work is to provide good service and support to the operations in financial matters. The department works in the financial system UBW (Agresso) and uses Hypergene for budgeting and follow-up.

Job Responsibilities

You will be one of six financial specialists and will work with accounting issues such as annual closing, follow-ups and analyses, as well as with the financial parts of interim reports and annual reports. Furthermore, you will actively participate in the development and adaptation of university-wide financial processes, accounting and control models, and conduct internal training. University-wide financial issues are handled continuously within the unit and distributed among financial specialists according to areas of responsibility. If necessary, you will also be involved in budgeting and forecasting work.

Your Background

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant university degree
• Several years of experience in qualified accounting work
• Good knowledge of financial management and financial processes in public operations
• Good ability to communicate and document in Swedish and English

It is also an advantage if you have:

• Experience working with finance in the higher education sector or other government operations
• Experience with UBW (Agresso) and Hypergene

Your Qualities

The role requires you to be structured, have a very good analytical ability, and be problem-solving. Furthermore, you are service-oriented and have good collaboration skills. You work independently within the responsibilities of the position.

Employment and Start Date

The position is a permanent full-time position with a start date according to agreement.
